Courtenay has some problems on the horizon. Either Rachel Ball who is gonna beat her or Shannon O’Connell who’s number 1 and WBA gold champ. O’Connell has some 30 fights and only looks to have had convincing losses when she’s boxed up in weight at featherweight and super featherweight. As well as that she’s 31 so not ancient at all. Reckon there may be some money to be made from both fights if one of them comes off.

Hope so, but Courtenay lost by a KD and has improved, while Ball has had Covid.jameswilson wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 08:16 Courtenay has some problems on the horizon. If anyone of us was in Khan’s shoes, would we really take this fight?

If he can get a PPV out of it, yeah why not.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 12:40If anyone of us was in Khan’s shoes, would we really take this fight?

hardly managed to pour me beer and the ref was jumping in !
vargas was shite frankly , benn did what he had to do but until he fights decent opposition who poses some threat its not clear how far he can go .
Amir Khan will run for the hills rather than take this

Depends if he still rates himself. If it was PPV I think it could be an easy pay day for him. Could box Benns head off potentially.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 12:40If anyone of us was in Khan’s shoes, would we really take this fight?

Read earlier that Khan was 24 when he beat Maidana, that's quality

It depends how good Benn is, because he would be getting hit very, very quickly early on.
Re: Round-by-Round: Conor Benn vs. Samuel Vargas - 10 April 2021
I really don't think Khan will go for it. I'm not even curious.
Re: Round-by-Round: Conor Benn vs. Samuel Vargas - 10 April 2021
Could Amir make 147? He looks quite full figured these days.
Re: Round-by-Round: Conor Benn vs. Samuel Vargas - 10 April 2021
Khan is looking for one more payday, Brook or Benn, it all depends on the money! Prob at this stage both fights are the same level of difficulty, depends how much Brook has gone back.
Maybe Benn can fight Khan then Brook, he is the cash cow now, 100% Eddie can get one of the major bodies to but up their interim belt.

Or Khan could fight Courtney for her WBA belt, now that would be a fight which would be easy to sell, Khan to survive a knockdown and win widely on points!!
Courtney is a bit of a racist too so that would add spice.

Can’t believe how much people are praising Benn (not so much on here). He’s yet to fight a real live fighter, fair enough he come through last night with flying colours but Vargas was well past his best. Il hold back praising the boy till he wins a even fight

I’m not saying she wins a Euro belt at minimum or anything !
Of course she’s improving - she’s getting more experience, got two wins and a belt. Not gonna make her worse is it ?

I'm on the fence too. That first fight with Paynard (that he lost) showed a lot of flaws. To be fair he has improved a lot since then, it just took a bit of the shine away. Last night he had the perfect opportunity to get rounds in against a live and experienced guy. It would've been a terrific learning and rust removing way to fully make that step up to contender level. Instead he blasted away at Sammy, and got an overzealous ref to stop it, learning approximately zero.smiling assassin wrote: ↑11 Apr 2021, 16:06 Can’t believe how much people are praising Benn (not so much on here). Re: Round-by-Round: Conor Benn vs. Samuel Vargas - 10 April 2021
Good win for Benn. He couldn't have improved on that performance.
It's be very impressed if Benn challenged Avanesyan for the European title next and he would deserve the forum's respect if he did, however, I can't hear that name being mentioned
Alternatively, a 10 rounder with Khan would probably be a decent tussle, but I can't see Amir getting too motivated for the Connor Benn's of this world.

Although I just skimmed a few seconds here and there out of curiosity I think I got the gist of it....and can honestly say I've seen MUCH better 3 round novice amateur fights on clubs shows than that "world" title fight ![[icon_neutral.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_neutral.gif)
