Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin - Who wins?
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
I disagree, I think we are in a good era that will only be appreciated when they all retire. Fury and AJ are elite HW's who could compete in any era, Usyk is an elite talent and the second best cruiserweight ever and nobody would be shocked to see him beat AJ. Ruiz is a tough bastard with fast hands who would be a top 10 HW in most era's. Whyte is what he is, not an elite boxer but a rough and tough fighter who will win some and lose some. The likes of Pulev/Parker/Joyce/Wallin/Wilder/Hrgovic are very good names to finish a top 10 list.

I do rate Ruiz but he has struggled to keep his momentum from the AJ win,we all know Ruiz has an unreal amateur resume and is very skilled, yeah i rate Whyte he is game and will have a go with anyone
I see all your points but still dont think its in the best state, the right fights arent happening for a start

I'm also at breaking point right now with certain fights not happening. If we could make the fights we want to go ahead we'd have some classics, just imagining a heavyweight fight card with;Oiky wrote: ↑19 Sep 2021, 05:11Tyson fury is unreal, the best Heavyweight in years, and will no doubt take Wilder out again and then see to Joshuadigzee wrote: ↑19 Sep 2021, 04:59I disagree, I think we are in a good era that will only be appreciated when they all retire. Fury v AJ
Wilder v Joyce
Ruiz v Usyk
Whyte v Hrgovic
Pulev v Parker
There are lots of great match ups to be made.

Suppose that doesnt help the image of the division,as the competitive side of it is largely hidden & delayed
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
So true. The mid-00s made Marciano's era look like Ali's. Plodders like Maskaev, Brewster and Lyakovich picking up titles.

Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
Apart from the Ali era, the heavyweights have often been thin on the ground in talent. Even Ali, Frazier, Foreman fought some truly awful fighters.
I don’t think Marciano era was that bad…. Jersey Joe, Ezzard Charles…. Joe Louis (ok all a bit aged). Joe Louis’s era was hardly shining with talent. Tyson beat up a bunch of ageing 80s coke heads you could say.
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
I generally agree with this, although all these eras are before my time. (Although I do think Marciano's era was pretty poor. Beat a few great fighters, but every single one was ancient, especially by 1950s standards, and small for HWs, even back then!)JamesPhilips wrote: ↑21 Sep 2021, 13:31Apart from the Ali era, the heavyweights have often been thin on the ground in talent. The mid-00s, though, I followed, and it was just a comically dire, hopeless, unwatchable division for years after Lewis retired. It's forgotten now that Wlad cleaning up the division was, very briefly, seen as a good thing - a champion finally establishing himself after bad knockouts, like Lewis after McCall - until it became clear just how incredibly painfully boring he intended to be.

Whyte-Wallin Undercard Update
Meanwhile, promoter Hearn has offered an update as to what will appear as part of the supporting cast to Dillian Whyte’s return next month.
‘The Body Snatcher’ meets Otto Wallin on October 30, exclusively live on DAZN, at the O2 Arena in London and it has already been confirmed that Alen Babic, the Croatian heavyweight who is managed by Whyte, will meet former WBA ‘regular’ champion Lucas Browne on the undercard, while Chantelle Cameron will take on Mary McGee in a unification showdown for the WBC, IBF and Ring Magazine world female super-lightweight titles.
But Hearn confirmed that there will be a number of additions to the card announced in the coming days, including Johnny Fisher and Ellie Scotney.
Fisher has stopped all three of his opponents to date since turning professional, while Scotney has a pair of wins in the paid code following a successful amateur stint.
Former British light-heavyweight champion Craig Richards will return from his defeat, at the hands of Dmitry Bivol in a challenge for the WBA Super world title at 175 pounds back in May, on the card and undefeated British and Commonwealth middleweight champion Felix Cash will fight for the first time since stopping Denzel Bentley in April.
Recent Matchroom acquisition Jordan Thompson (10-0, 8 KOs) will see action for the first time since November 2019 and Youssef Khoumari, another Whyte-managed fighter who is coming off a decision win in Barcelona earlier this month, will take on once-defeated Texan Jorge David Castaneda who last time out beat previously undefeated prospect Otha Jones III.

Will whyte wriggle out of this? Now that AJ and usyk are tied up whyte has a real chance at being mandatory for fury vs wilder winner early next year… given that I wonder if he will try get out of this fight which is clearly a risk. Wouldent want to get povetkined again….

I can't see Wallin being that much of a threat to Whyte, but he will go quite a few rounds because he can take a pretty good punch. I think the Swede's performance against Tyson Fury has been largely overblown--- he did not look at all impressive against Dominic Breazeale and the Travis Kauffman bout was nothing to talk about either.

I don't think so. He's pretty game. He must be kicking himself over not taking the aj rematch. It would have been a huge Matchroom do.gregregegg wrote: ↑28 Sep 2021, 04:04 Will whyte wriggle out of this? Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
I know. Moaning about it only being 3 mil when he had a chance at 3 belts, at Wembley, and AJ got knocked out and beaten up since then. Now he has to concentrate on winning against Wallin (not an absolute given, is it?) and will likely be the mandatory for the Wilder/Fury winner. If Fury comes through, and AJ takes the Usyk rematch, then he might end up being Fury's 'homecoming' fight in Manchester, and not London, where he won't have much support. I don't know what the payday will be for him either because, as we all know, Fury probably still isn't anywhere near the draw AJ was (just a different crowd- all the Rolex selfie no-leg-day Love Island tossers who make up the core of the Matchroom army aren't going to want to mix with the rougher element that Fury brings out)so you can never tell just how well a Fury fight will do on the gate.mickey1975 wrote: ↑28 Sep 2021, 04:13I don't think so. Even if AJ and Whyte rematch again one day, it'll likely be at the 02 for a fraction of the payday.
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
The poll is surprisingly close.
I voted Wallin T/KO more out of dislike for Whyte, I didn't expect so many others voted the same

But is it Whyte dislike, or Wallin's performance against Fury?

Whyte dislike. Not many on here give Wallin that much credit I take it.. unless ur a Fury fanboy maybe I don’t know..KiwiRider wrote: ↑02 Oct 2021, 16:57But is it Whyte dislike, or Wallin's performance against Fury?
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
Just broke the tie. Wallin didn't seem that impressive to me. He cut Fury (could of been anyone) and couldn't take advantage of it. Whyte by decision if not late stoppage.
Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
Swap Whyte with Wallin and I totally agree with you there Oogs
Whytes punch resistance is way down.

wallin also hurt fury in the 12th
i think it will be close for the most part, but whyte will take over later on and win clear. wallin noticably slows around the 6th and lets himself get outworked

We'll see. I don't have much skin in the game as neither fighter interests me much, but at least Whyte's been fighting pretty good competition throughout his career. Don't see much from "Valeen."

Re: Dillian Whyte vs. Otto Wallin | DAZN - 30 October 2021
a lot of ppl picked big dom to beat him. he won that easy. maybe he's slightly better than those ppl expected. he DID cut fury, and he also hurt him after that. he lasted the full 12 and gave a fight to the best. thats not bad. he moves well, has some good defensive moves, and a nice accurate left hand. he has stamina issues and lacks power though (despite hurting furY). can maybe be pushed around.
i agree, whyte should win, wallin doesnt have the gas tank or deal well enough with rough housing. not a hitter either. but i expect wallin to give problems with his left hand sniping and movement. whyte is one of these guys who seems to always have some rough spots
