He was definitely more cautious & defensively minded vs DDD. Lots of movement and tighter defence with higher gloves.

He clearly had zero respect for Hammer ..

True but he was also very hitable vs Takam. He used to have better movement definitely

Usyk was hitting him like he was buffering in the ams. Guy has many great abilities but like I said last night in the rbr he might be the slowest 250+ fighter of all time.
He’s 36/37… getting hit clean is his game.

His chin can absorb solid clean shots. When he's getting hit flush by guys and the shots are bouncing off his head then using the Homer Simpson style is a smart move. His skull looks like it is reinforced with the bone density possibly double the capacity of a normal skull so he doesn't seem to have any issue with taking full force heavyweight punches to the chin with regularity. This is why he does seem to be one of the poorest fighters you've seen with the naked eye but when you consider he is practically impossible to KO then you can see his strength. Is he related to the Joyce's? The travelers?

I wouldn't mind a Joyce-Wilder fight if Wilder fights again. These fights are made so slowly now, I'm afraid you're right on the 18+ months.

Wilder bangs out Joyce in 1 and a decent version of AJ does something similar.

Jennings showed that Joyce can be hurt to the body, not many heavys get noticeably hurt or dropped by body shots but Jennings creased Joyce, surely it's gotta be in every game plan for anyone who comes up against him, sure he's easy to hit upstairs but the breadbasket looks the better option

Kuzmin knocked him down pretty badly in the amateurs. No shock but it was a right hand over the top. Joyce did well to get up from it but the ref stopped it.

I think, could be wrong, AJ fought him and stopped him in the amateurs. Not sure what kind of stoppage it was though.

Kuzmin had Jo down after like 6 secs in the 1st standing count then had him down proper after 20 secs.

With head guards. Biggest lie in British boxing is Jo.

Heavyweight boxing is so bad at the moment there really is no reason why Slo-Joe Joyce can't win a version.

AJ did him in a round but also I don't know if he was dropped etc

I certainly think Joyce could win a version of the world title as the division is so poor, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he got sparked out by someone either. Obviously his defence isn’t always as terrible as it was last night, but it’s never been great. We’ve seen plenty of fighters over the years who have looked rock solid at domestic / Euro level but then get battered at world level.

I'm the opposite BB,
Since a very young and green DDD was getting the better of Joyce, and that last performance - I'm not convinced at all he has what it takes.
I did think when he turned pro there was a good chance, but now - and at 36- he has dropped in my estimation. Basically his jaw is all that keeps him in fights. The game plan to beat him is to do plenty of cardio and just out work and out move him and win a wide points decision. He is using his face as defence, the top guys would be all over that.

Nope. Joe’s still managed by S-Jam but Sam left them to join Probellum. I’m surprised he hasn’t left yet to try and go back.

S-Jam is run by Adam Moralee (the AM of S-Jam) and Shane Watson who stepped up once Sam left.

if jo's chin aint much dubs must be pretty feather fisted then since he couldnt put a dent in jo jo. kuzmin must punch 10x harder than dubs! big joe did more damage with a jab than dubs could do with any power shot

what actually proved to be the biggest 'lie' about joyce was that he was going to get smoked by the much more hyped and heavily favoured dubois.

Joyce' chin is freakish. He was taking clean shots fron Dubois and has never seemed hurt during his pro-career, despite being hit in every damn fight. It's quite threatening for anybody, when such powerhouse constantly goes forward without being affected by the eaten shots. I wasn't taking Joe seriously before Dubois, but after that I don't get, why some continue not to rate him. He's exactly that kind of fighter, who can receive punches in order to deliver his own, a limited one, but extremely durable and able to impose his game.
