Now that Dunne has taken a belt - the hard way I might add - why the hell should he hand Munroe and his manager a pay day after Maloney's antics?
When Dunne was crying out for the Munroe fight for a chance to resurrect his career (and offering ridiculous money, too), Maloney pilloried and mocked him in the press.
Now, all has changed utterly. Munroe/Maloney bottled it, Dunne grabbed his chance at the big time and the boot is on the other foot.
I expect Dunne/Peters won't be doing Munroe/Maloney too many favours in the immediate future. I see a couple of handy defences and then a push towards Cabalerro.

if Dunne fights Caballero, Dunne won't be selling out 10,000 seater arenas for WBA titles afterward. I'd think it's in Dunne's best interests to put this fight off as long as they can.

But come on, Munroe is one of the best title defences out there -the Martinez subplot, the fact that Munroe is highly respected & considered one of the top 10 super bantams. It's a fascinating fight that could be built up to.

But well done to Dunne. I felt that his career was mostly hype, but he showed a great deal of skill and substance vs a very tough opponent. It is encouraging that he was able to survive. If Amir Khan can learn to do that...

I used to like your posts Autobarn but I can't see why you think Dunne should give Munroe a fight.

Maloney/Murnoe tried to make Peters/Dunne look stupid over the past few months - they were ready to go into Itoldyaso gloat mode if the ref stopped the fight in the fifth - I cant see why Peters should do them any favours now - Murnoe has been well and truely gazumped.

Like I have said, a fight with Kiko Martinez make the most sense.

To be honest I'm surprised with people saying ignore Munroe after what has gone on.

I think the best way to get back at Munroe is to knock him out, not take the Ricky Hatton 'I don't want to give him a payday' approach.
Not to mention that Munroe as European champion(and presumely Commonwealth soon aswell) with a good few defences will look a nice win on the record and it would be easy to sell to the Irish public with the current European champion and twice conqueror of Kiko Martinez headline.

yeah i agree i think the best defence is munroe for the first defence, kiko is useless and dosent deserve a crack although i feel it will be fight made in the future . munroe would look good on dunnes record and also the english/irish thing would be a big seller . although dunne would sell 20,000 tickets in his next fight against anyone . the public have fell back in love with him and even my mates who hated dunne now actually like him and respect him and said they would go to his next fight no problem

ok, i will find another way of saying it. if munroe will accept the terms of dunne -the big star right now - then i think it's an important fight.

munroe seems to be a bit of a thorn in his side. so is kiko martinez. surely beating munroe - which he is well capable of doing, though it could be tough - sqaures everything up.

would they want to risk martinez again? what if kiko just has dunne's number?

as ppl have said, dunne could fight anyone and it would sell. so i don't see why this shouldn't be built up into a bit of a big fight.

dunne doesn't have to, he is the more interesting fighter, he's the reason why these threads haven't died, but dunne-munroe would be a great package.

yes, i can agree with that.
but the thai (poonsawat kratingdaenggym) should figure in the near future...he won the mandatory slot last april (?) and hasn't had a sniff since cos of all the belt shenanigans

Problem is Dunne ships far to many and Martinez could quite easily stiff him again.

Dunne, for me, isn't a world champion. Imagine if the WBO, IBF and WBC all adopt this "regular" and "super" champion status. They will then be eight 'world champions' a division. The win over Cordoba should get Dunne a mandatory shot at Callaberro in my opinion, not world champion status.

Very dangerous referee, he needs a slap round the head. Cordoba looked a sitting duck after going down the first time in round 11.
It's obvious he's running on empty, yet the very brave ref wants him to take some more punishment to head, just for the hell of it.

Go for Caballerro and become a proper world champion. Regular WBA world champion my arse.

He holds the second super bantam World title for the WBA; I don't know what you'd call him. I'd say his win was World class though.
