Very happy about that. Going to be a good one.
I thought that was a horrible move on Dana's part. Maia is dangerous as hell, yet he wants Woodley to go balls out on the guy. Whatever man. Woodley has had a rough go of it his last 3 fights and still won. Wonderboy and Maia might just be the hardest fighters to look good against. I like the GSP/Bisping fight, but I don't like how he snatched it from Woodley like that.p4p1 wrote:So Bisping vs GSP is back on. What a effing joke.
Would be better than Woodley's last three fights. Woodley has had a tough go of it lately. I think even GSP would have looked crappy against Maia. Woodley/GSP would be pretty interesting.Tomasino wrote:Imagine how boring of a fight GSP v Woodley would be? No thanks.

I don't think it would stink. Given their styles, it would be very interesting. Woodley has very good takedown defense, it would most liely end up as a stand up battle. Woodley wouldn't be as hesitant because GSP doesn't have the BJJ anywhere near Maia. It would be good. Probably a bit like Big Rig/GSP.Tomasino wrote:Impractical Poster wrote:Would be better than Woodley's last three fights. Woodley has had a tough go of it lately. Even GSP? Did you watch his title defences? Woodleys last three have been terrible and he is as much to blame as his challengers. Him and GSP would stink the joint out to high heaven. George was great but he was boring as hell after Serra KOd him.

I don't see it like that. Dana took it away from Woodley as punishment. GSP would be throwing out a jab like noboby's business. They both bring dynamics that would mesh well together. But, I understand why you would think it would be a snoozer. When GSP could, he would lay on top of his opponents for the duration on the bout. But, like you said, their wrestling would negate the takedowns and it would primarily be a standup bout. I just think it would be more interesting than you do.Tomasino wrote:Impractical Poster wrote:I don't think it would stink. Given their styles, it would be very interesting. I don't see it like that at all. Once they both negate the takedowns, we are left with stand up resembling Woodley v Thompson. Rounds decided on one or two scrappy, glancing strikes. I'm guessing Dana sees it similar hence scrapping it.

I think it was never on the cards. GSP is deciding who to fight, not Dana, imo.Impractical Poster wrote:I don't see it like that. Dana took it away from Woodley as punishment. White said Khabib isn't ready to fight, this is most likely going down at 216.p4p1 wrote:i thought Khabib v Ferguson was happening at 217?
Khabib seemed to be fine for 217 but not 216. It seems the UFC is just wanting a 'title' fight for 216. Obviously Khabib vs Ferguson is the fight to make but as much as I like Khabib this is his own doing anyway and I can't blame the UFC for not waiting for him even if it's just a few weeks.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:White said Khabib isn't ready to fight, this is most likely going down at 216.p4p1 wrote:i thought Khabib v Ferguson was happening at 217?
Especially not now, I'd rather see him make weight for another fight than suffer through another cancellation of the fight.p4p1 wrote:Khabib seemed to be fine for 217 but not 216. Dudes probably the best fighter at the weight and deserves a shot but he can't(and no fighter should) dictate when, where and who he wants to fight.
After the weight fiasco he should really be killing himself to fight whenever the UFC wanted the fight to go down and not asking for an extra few weeks.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Especially not now, I'd rather see him make weight for another fight than suffer through another cancellation of the fight.p4p1 wrote:Khabib seemed to be fine for 217 but not 216. He had surgery, maybe he wouldn't be cleared.p4p1 wrote:After the weight fiasco he should really be killing himself to fight whenever the UFC wanted the fight to go down and not asking for an extra few weeks.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:Especially not now, I'd rather see him make weight for another fight than suffer through another cancellation of the fight.p4p1 wrote: Khabib seemed to be fine for 217 but not 216. I didn't know that. I had just read that he was offered 216 but wanted 217 and refused 216. But if he's had surgery it might be much more complicated.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:He had surgery, maybe he wouldn't be cleared.p4p1 wrote:After the weight fiasco he should really be killing himself to fight whenever the UFC wanted the fight to go down and not asking for an extra few weeks.SaadOffTheDeck wrote:

I try not to quote Dana as gospel, but he said "khabib had surgery and he's just not ready to fight". The press conferences with Cholo and Lee would be entertaining. Ferguson is crazy underrated on the mic.p4p1 wrote:I didn't know that. I had just read that he was offered 216 but wanted 217 and refused 216.
