We share the same hope!THEHAMMER321 wrote:Good morning everyone I was out after midnight to have dinner with some friends, it seemed to be unusually busy as we had to wait in line for about 15 minutes, I spoke to a few people in line and they said they were here for the fight tonight that was at the South Point hotel about a ten minute drive to the MGM where the fight will be, I won't be watching it but hope Mosley wins.

Paul, Valdez was a good one, a tough featherweight in a very tough era. Top ten, for sure. However, he was a cut below the Saldivar's, Rojas, Famechon, etc. I saw him fight world champ Hiroshi Kobayashi in the Japanese fghter's U.S. debut. Bobby fought him tough for a few rounds, but Kobayashi fired a picture perfect left hook, that crashed against Valdez's jaw, and he was out cold. No cut on Bobby Valdez, anybody can be flattened by that kinda punch, but he was in a little over his head. Bobby had a couple good fights with Frankie Crawford, as well.THEHAMMER321 wrote:I was looking up Bobby Valdez record as I heard Rick mention his fight with Dwight Hawkins, I notice he did good in his fights with''Gato'' Gonzalez, also he had a very short career anybody know much about him
Rick, I'm with you and Frank on this one. The smart money is with Mayweather but I'll be pulling for Shane. Heart and head, it's a tough one to get past. BTW, you know I'll be calling you tonight just before opening bell.Rick Farris wrote:Randyman wrote:We share the same hope!THEHAMMER321 wrote:Good morning everyone I was out after midnight to have dinner with some friends, it seemed to be unusually busy as we had to wait in line for about 15 minutes, I spoke to a few people in line and they said they were here for the fight tonight that was at the South Point hotel about a ten minute drive to the MGM where the fight will be, I won't be watching it but hope Mosley wins.
Yep. Like Frank said, my heart is with Mosely.,
Randy, heart has cost me a bundle too. Hey, we're fight fans, that's our excuse and I'm sticking with it.Randyman wrote:Yeah, I hear you. Going with my heart has cost me a bundle in the past. That's why I don't bet any more than the cost of a lunch anymore. Still I think Mosley is going to pull this one off. I just can't tell if it's my mind or my heart that's making that statement. Hopefully both. Whoever wins though, I hope it's a great fight.kikibalt wrote:My heart is with Shane, but my mind tells me Floyd.....Randyman wrote: Well, I gave my opinion a few post back. It will be Mosley.

The museum at the Civic auditorium, in San Francisco was closed when the auditorium was renovated it was a nice little exhibit. My father being involved with the construction union movement in San Francisco at the time they were putting the exhibit together was able to call in some favors and had electrical, painting and other contractors sending workers and material over to help make it happen. He thinks all of the stuff that came out of there, some donated by us, is stored at the hall of justice for some reason. My guess is it's sitting in some moist storage area being ruinedRandyman wrote:Here's another link to the Boxing Museum. This one has a short video.

Maybe one day we can all make a "West Coast Boxing" pilgrimage to the museum.

Randy. I saw a lot of fights in that auditorium during the 70s and even fought there six times, GGs and such.
I'm going to make a few calls to see if anyone knows where that stuff is and see if the Northern California Veterans Boxers Association wants to take up the cause to find a new place to display it.

“New Shoes”
My friend Richard came from a big family, 7-8 kids and like most people in Simons it was hard on Richard’s parents to buy nice clothes/shoes for all the kids at once, one at a time the parents clothed their children. I mention before that we kids would built a fire every night in Simons, one night we are at the fire and one of Richard’s younger brothers kept putting his foot on a burning log, he has just gotten a new pair of shoes and none of the guys had said “hey, nice shoes”, by putting his foot on the burning log he was hoping that we would notice that he had new shoes, well we all notice alright, his one shoe got on fire!….

Shane was gloved to late, by the time he was wrapped and gloved, it was time to go to the ring, didn't have time to warm-up.Randyman wrote:I don't like the fact that Mosley will be going into the ring dry. Not a good sign.

Chuck, without taking all the credit from Mayweather, yes, Mosley aged tonight. Mosley had a big 2nd round after landing two solid right hands flush on Mayweather but from the 3rd round on it was Mayweather. Surprisingly Mayweather stood his ground, didn't run and out fought Mosley. It wasn't a great fight but Mayweather deserves some credit. Mosley looked clueless at times and lacked any real spirit.Chuck1052 wrote:Based on reports, Floyd Mayweather won a decison over Shane Mosley by an overwhelming margin. Did Mosley get old suddenly?
