I thought "Gabacho" was the equivalent of N**ger as a derogatory term, and that gringo was actually the milder phrase for us Anglos? :??

[/quote actually I think the brothers were the first to use the term Honky, but when I started going to school in the early 1970s they were using ''pecker wood'' along with Honky and cracker, a crash course in racism.

I don't know where I heard it. But I have thought for a Mexican to call me a "gabacho" was the same as me calling an African-American a "N**ger." (I didn't think it was a Chicano phrase.)
So, you mean if a Mexican calls me a "gabacho," the appropriate response isn't to give him the finger?

Well, the punchline is "dinner." But you are exactly right. Awful stuff? Not to a true Swede . . . which is why I thank God I'm only Swedish on my mother's side. You couldn't pay me to eat that sh*tty stuff.
