I am not sure. It may well be the same agreement for the Wlad rematch and the Vitali fight. Or Haye could well be given a bigger slice of the pie - I doubt it though, as the Klitschko's had essentially made David keep it quiet. That tells me it was the former.

The Klits like to bargain hard by the looks of it..but to be fair, Haye and his team couldn't deliver Stamford bridge as a venue, and in Germany, they are the big names there, so I suppose its fair they are entitled to the lions share, but the re-match clause thing, fornicating hell...

All this talk of fighting for free.

You really think that Haye was ONLY getting the Setanta money and nothing from the gate at all?

I believe Haye was only getting paid by Setanta, hence why I believe him pulling out is because Setanta can't pay him.

At the end of the day, what happens, happens.

But from a fan's point of view its all a little disappointing, and with big fight simply failing to happen it is becoming harder to maintain an interest in the sport.

he was getting more than the Setanta money. Lets be real here.

So what was he getting then?

As far as I was aware, Haye wasn't entitled to none of the gate or HBO and RTL money. If you want me to think otherwise, it's going to take a lot more than "get real" for me to change my mind. But feel free to prove me wrong.

Personally, I dont buy the injury claim for a second.

I think he was in the awkward position of having to take criticism for either not fighting for financial reasons or getting stick for pulling out on an injury, and after all of the talking that was done, a withdrawel through injury probably seemed the least damaging way out.

I mean, look at all of the criticism he's already had to take for being injured! Can you imagine the shellacking he'd have gotten if he hadn't agreed to fight for free after all the talk of 'doing it for legends past, in order to restore the division to it's former glory' etc. I mean, it's only reasonable to expect to be paid for what he's had to put himself through and what he might have had to go through, but let's be honest, there are a lot of people looking to shoot him down.

That, on top of the risk that he might lose, it's a no-brainer.

Did Haye and Booth Lie about being ready for July 11th?

Just wondering what you all think about this, still dosent make sense as 1 day they were asking to postpone the fight till July 11th after getting a scan on his back and getting told to rest for 2 weeks

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIEzdvSa ... annel_page

and now they are saying Haye won't be ready till september!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3yQt-K7i ... re=channel

Just Glad Wlad didnt Listen to these amateurs and went ahead on June 20th with the best possible replacement in Chagaev, a fighter even better than Haye in terms of Heavyweight Credentials. It would have been ridiculous to have postponed everything till July 11th only for Haye to Pull out again and i still think the Whole possible Collaspe of Setanta may have had more to do with it than anything.

Oh, who knows?

There has been so much talk and counter talk about this fight, its hard to maintain interest. Remember when it was down for being at Stanford Bridge?

What I cannot understand is why, Adam Booth being Hayes Manager, Trainer, Promoter and best pal, did not have a clause in the contract that allowed for injury to either party and included a contingency plan in such an event.

I am sure if Vlad had been injured they wouldn't have lost out on the fight and would have had to swallow a postponement, so why did he not cover the same eventuality at their end? Someone should ask Booth if, as it appears, his lack of knowledge and experience in Boxing
Management has ultimately cost his man his shot at the big one.

The purse, I hear, was a portion of the Setanta money (Smart move # 1) that was on offer and the Promotion (Less than the Maccarinelli Fight I might add) didn't have to pay him anything at all.

So Haye pulls out with a bad back just as Setanta look to be going to the wall. Coincidence or not, Booth has some serious questions to answer as many Brit fans must be out of pocket.

Perhaps Buncey will ask him some difficult questions for a change instead of brown-nosing him every week.

My gut feeling is Haye's tee-shirt antics may have screweed up any future chances he has, especially if Chagaev wins.

He lives !
I think you need to focus on the antics of someone far nearer to you, before dishing the dirt in Booth's direction.

boxingchat,

Will Frank_Warren ever be on Bunce's Boxing Hour? It would be good to hear what he has planned for the future, who he thinks will be the big stars like Hatton, Calzaghe, Khan...and so on.

Haye on Twitter in past 15 mins:

"ill be ringside for any other fight Wlad takes, ill take either Klit this year"

Will be interesting to see if Haye now signs up to Sky. Perhaps Cotto-Clottey will be last live fight on Setanta?

http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard- ... article.do

Cable and satellite TV firms tonight faced having to prepare for the possible collapse of the Setanta pay-TV sports channels.

Fears were mounting that Setanta, which currently broadcasts 46 live English Premiership games a season, will go into administration within days.

Accountants Deloitte were on standby to take over the Irish firm. Setanta declined to comment.

Key investors Balderton Capital, Doughty Hanson and Goldman Sachs have reportedly been reluctant to inject as much as £100 million in new funding.

Setanta has around 3 million customers, 1.2 million of whom subscribe directly while around 1.6 million have access through platforms such as Virgin Media. Some of Setanta's direct subscribers are tied into annual deals.

A Virgin spokesman said: “We're monitoring the situation at Setanta Sports carefully and will try to ensure our customers continue to receive all available sports coverage.”

Virgin customers on its top “XL” package receive Setanta channels for nothing. Some Virgin subscribers get Setanta as a “top-up” and would no longer have to pay that if Setanta collapses.

European Commission rules mean arch-rival Sky cannot buy up all Setanta's Premiership games. US broadcaster ESPN is reportedly interested in some of Setanta's rights.

As someone has already stated, there has been much talk since Haye pulled out of the bout. IMO, Setanta not paying the Scottish Premier League £3M must have registered with Haye! Its quite clear Setanta are in financial difficulty, so I wonder whether David was not so sure he would receive what he's due from the channel once he had fought Wladamir!

It could turn out to be for the best or a blessing in the long run, because there is speculation of Haye-Vitali happening in Spetember. Let's hope that happens!

Do you think its morally correct Joe Calzaghe not getting paid the money a court has clearly ruled in favour of and the said promoter still continuing his normal business but just under another name?

Exoddus wrote:I’ve been told by a source that David Haye isn’t injured. Setanta have until the end of June to find something like 45 million. They failed to pay the Scottish Premier League £3m they owe them. They need to pay the Premier League £35m this month.

Haye wants to get paid, as he’s not 100% certain he can win. So he doesn’t want to lose, which could be. His only decent payday. If he loses then his stock goes down.

He said David Haye even approached Sky. Asking them to pick up the fight but they turned it down. Setanta asked Sky for a loan which they also turned down. Sky are hoping Setanta will lose subscribers because of this farce, which will put the final nail in the coffin.

Looks like my source was spot on. It come out today that they owe the Premire League 30m Million.

Perhaps the contract Hayemaker had with the Klits was a verbal contract!
