Froch is just waaaay too slow, i'd give him a punchers chance really but Calzaghe had a chin to at least match Kessler whom Froch has hit with the kitchen sink over 24 rounds. I also think Calzaghe is naturally stronger & the bigger man, Froch could find himself up against it physically like he did against Ward. iirc he complained afterwards that Ward is really a LHW because that's what he fought at in the ams.

If Froch didn't get him by round 6? Who did Carl get to by round 6 except Bute? He would have little chance of beating him and zero chance of stopping him. "The Boxer Joe" was every bit as tough as "the tough fighter" Carl, physically and mentally. Stronger mentally, I would say.
I always thought that Calzaghe would beat Froch widely on points, but after last Saturday I can now envisage Calzaghe stopping him late on. His hands, and more crucially his feet, were miles too fast for Froch.
In terms of lists, Calzaghe would have beaten Andre Dirrel (who I think just nicked it against Froch), he beat a better version of Kessler more easily, he would have beaten Glen Johnson, and would have had no problem usting off Abraham, who has proved to be a career middleweight by defeats against everyone in the super midlewight division. I think Ward might stop the Cobra next time round -that said, I don't think Froch has any intention of fighting Ward* again -he seems to go on about what a boring fighter he is, but Ward roughed him up, pushed him back and was too good in every department -he is a bit more than just an awkward fighter.
*I do think Ward should be prepared to travel over here though.
woodhall - who started as a middleweight - and reid could not miss the right hand vs calzaghe.
froch, with that ferocity and fitness, would also land some good right hands. he's more offensive minded than woodhall and reid, and so would likely try to add the left hook to the right hand.
froch would be no routine or easy fight for calzaghe - no sir.
froch seems to have made a crucial career change - he's no longer giving away rounds, he's seizing the fights from the beginning (total control vs bute, early lead vs kessler, who then took command, forcing froch to grab the fight again). his fights are not drifting in that annoying manner...obviously, joe was much more adaptable WITHIN a given fight, getting up then finding the range for the left v hopkins and neutralising kessler after a bad start). technically joe is better but when froch asserts himself, he is a real physical threat & his late surges are a threat to the 12 round lapses seen in joe's big fights.
it's easy to pick holes in both men, i hope i've just demonstrated with joe vs reid and woodhall.

its all about opinion and i think carl hits pretty hard with virtually every shot so if he caught calzaghe like byron mitchell did then who knows,carl will take a beating and still come looking for you,didnt you watch the ward fight?? i think calzaghe would of beaten carl but i just dont know what joes reaction would be if carl caught him crisp.

I know exactly what Calzaghe's reaction would be if he was hit crisp by Carl, Calzaghe's chin was not in the least bit suspect and Carl simply isn't a big enough puncher to stop him when he would land.

yes quixall i have given my opinion on this an i think carl MUST beat ward to pip joe in legacy but i think joe will be remembered longer because of the '0' only the big boxing finatics will pick his record apart.
