Re: Ward vs Kovalev 2 RBR Discussion

Let's not forget.. Ward landed a nice head shot which shook Kovalev prior to the ending.
He got away from a clear loss, which would finish his career. A controversial loss is always a better choice than a clear loss.victor-romeo wrote:What did Sergey get away with other than his consciousness...klitoris wrote:Honestly Kovalev was looking for a way out of this fight. He's lucky that fight got stopped controversially, because the way it was going, he was gonna get either KTFO in the next few rounds or lose on the cards. Ward was landing and Kovalev was getting gassed the same way he did in the first fight. This way he can say that he got screwed again. Even though Kovalev fans are pissed, deep inside Sergey knows that he got away with one.
I scored it pretty unbiased. At best, it was 4-3 in either direction. I thought Ward. Anybody that argues that, I don't see how.Blodhemn wrote:The hometown score of giving all *close* rounds to the favorite strikes again.armageto wrote:Blodhemn wrote: Don't let the fact that 2 judges already had Ward winning, and that Weeks would let Ward tee off on Kovalev's nuts till the cows come home mean that Kovalev could win in any possible scenario. Though winded, he still clearly outboxed Ward up until that point.
I had Ward up 4-3 going into the 8th. I guess we disagree on what clearly outboxed is. To each their own....
No doubt Kovalev was tired and Ward was moving in for the kill, the first border line punch was maybe kovalev looking for a breather. The punches on the ropes you see one massive uppercut to the balls, maybe 3 , and then the ref just stops the fight ?Ruthless-RKO wrote:Let's not forget.. Of course he would lose. In a close fight, when one side is allowed to foul at their will, the other one has little chances.klitoris wrote:Honestly Kovalev was looking for a way out of this fight. but easy to forget that was setup by a LOW BLOW AS WELL..one that weeks wouldn't let any break in the action forLet's not forget.. Ward landed a nice head shot which shook Kovalev prior to the ending.

Only one punch looked low to me. I wanted them to let it continue, but Kovalev was crouched over, leaning on the ropes, not doing much of anything. I understand the stoppage, but they should have given him more time. Which would have resulted into him just quitting or getting iced. Kovalev was done.victor-romeo wrote:No doubt Kovalev was tired and Ward was moving in for the kill, the first border line punch was maybe kovalev looking for a breather. I like Kovalev and wanted him to win. I thought Ward would win, but was rooting for Kovalev. Pretty unbiased means just that. I judged the fight unbiased. I had no money on the fight.Blodhemn wrote:What is "pretty unbiased"?armageto wrote:I scored it pretty unbiased. At best, it was 4-3 in either direction. I thought Ward. That was also the only low blow out of the three. Kovalev was done man. Let it go. Was that last one low, yes. Should it have gone on, probably. You mean to tell me that Kovalev wins this fight. Come on.......Ricky_ wrote:LOOK AT THE FUCKIN' STATE OF IT FROM THIS REPLAY

It's also the way Kovalev was positioned. It was an uppercut to the body, so it would seem low but landed on the belt. Tito used to hit them exact shots to the body..armageto wrote:Only one punch looked low to me. So, Kovalev didn't look exhausted to you? Kovalev didn't look spent? Kovalev is known for big second half of fights and not fading? Give me a break. He was out done tonight. The last punch WAS low. The other two weren't. Most of the "low blows" were just Kovalev complaining about nothing. Replays even show most of them to be legal of border beltline, which he had his belly button covered by the trunks, making it legal blows.Baby Face Finster wrote:\armageto wrote:Only one punch looked low to me. How was he done fool? Had Weeks followed proper protocol he would have deducted a point from Ward and then given Kovalev 5 minutes to recuperate? But he didn't do any of that, he simply stopped the fight. He didn't even give Kovalev a standing 8 count. Total bias/corrupt officiating. Weeks should never get another assignment.
As for Max Kellerman, FVCK YOU, you biased poop.

Didn't Trinidad drop Vargas low?? Kovalev should have hit Ward back low, that is on him for not doing that..Ruthless-RKO wrote:It's also the way Kovalev was positioned. Maybe.. the ref should've given a standing 8 count.. but Kov looked gone..
Agree, a standing 8 would have been nice and should be used more often. If the fight continued, Kovalev isn't making it but another round anyhow. He was spent.Ruthless-RKO wrote:It's also the way Kovalev was positioned. It was an uppercut to the body, so it would seem low but landed on the belt. What an idiot you are. Even if it was the only 1, you don't wave a guy off who just winced from a shot to the bollocks. Idiot.
Right. Because a post like "Haaaaaaa. Let's see idiots complain now." Surely makes it sound unbias. Just be honest. You scored the close rounds for Ward. No big ass deal.armageto wrote:I like Kovalev and wanted him to win. I thought Ward would win, but was rooting for Kovalev. Pretty unbiased means just that. I judged the fight unbiased. You are so stupid. I remember you from Boxingtalk. You are just as dumb now as you were then. If you can't understand the rules of boxing then don't take part in adult conversations.armageto wrote:So, Kovalev didn't look exhausted to you? Kovalev didn't look spent?
