You lot are too negative.

i didnt make the claim either, but i just dont get how this fight generates a  with regards to that claim when joyce did no worse than whyte and stopped lewison earlier. had him hurt worse than whyte too. do ppl forget that whyte actually fought lewison and didnt exactly shine? not like lewison was in tip top shape for whyte either
True.... but experience makes a lot of difference in the later rounds. also Joyce looked awful tonight. Like Jess Willard

Just don't think Joyce has good enough fundamentals and at 32 very little time to improve.
The division is so pathetic that your valid points might not ring true in todays division. Someone like Arreola, who absolutely sucked, was a 'contender' for a decade.

Willard is a God compared to anyone from 6-10 in the rankings.

True. Sadly, but Joyce isn't good enough to beat someone like wilder who is one of the worst heavyweight champions ever. It's the lack of pip and straight up predictability.

Something was up with Joyce's right hand surely. Didn't use it at all in round 2 & 3 then used it very sporadically again from round 4 more tap to the body and gloves to try open Lewison up for the left hand power shots. Left handed or not he was defo protecting something to do with his right hand.

I think he would too.

I still stand by this.

Whyte is no good.

Whyte couldn't find that extra gear to get Lewison out of there Joyce did and probably had another to go.

Think it was round 4 he only threw left hands. Even when he looked like he was going to get Lewison it of there purely left hand combinations.

I reckon he carried him though. At times he backed him up and looked ready to stop him then he let him out.

And he fought wilder last year FFS.

I see some saying Joyce won't do this and that etc etc.

But the standard in the heavyweight division is crap. I reckon Joyce will get to a world title fight at least.

You could use some drugs, anything to relax and tone down your Wilder obsession.

Yes I agree, you need about the same points to make the top 100 as you did 5-10-15-20 years ago in the other divisions. It has stayed a constant, however the amount of points you need in heavyweight division has nearly halved.

Outside the top 6 or 7 it is dire.

Poor fight - you could be right about the rankings but that just shows how poor the division is.

Fur a 32 year old who has been a full time boxer for years, boxing WSB like a pro, Olympic silver and Commonwealth gold, he looked very very poor to me.

I like Joyce and I was impressed with his debut.

Firstly level of opponent. Best I can recall in a British debut.
He's a durable fighter who Joyce got rid off quicker than anyone else.

Joyce could of stepped on the gas earlier and got rid of him but I think he was pacing himself and didn't want to rush in and walk into something.

I hope they don't rush him. If they keep him around this level for 18 months he will vastly improve.
The jab and workrate are top drawer.

The criticism of Joyce is ridiculous.

Joyce looked better against lewison than Whyte did even though Lewison was fitter for the Joyce fight. Yes he's wooden and predictable but he has the workrate and size to go along way in the division as Whyte has. As for Lewison last night was an embarasssment and his pro career is effectively over.

Good first outing for Joyce, but he's overly reliant on his left hand. Was his right hurt or something?

Lewison was in terrible shape, which is surprising when Haye had been making a big noise about how he had been given a full camp for this fight.

I wasn't completely convinced by Joyce. Punches are a bit slow and telegraphed for me, decent power but doesn't look like he has knockout power, probably because his feet are never in the optimum position when he throws. Good engine and workrate though. Will be interesting to see how he adapts.

Hutchison looks like a beast at 19. Punches with real venom. Opponent wasn't up to much though.
