There were a few times in there when Joshua looked like the spitting image of Frank Bruno.
Facially and in style. I wonder how who would have won if they had fought.
Oh. Congratulations to that fat tub of goo joke, Andy Ruiz. He's now the heavyweight champion of the world.
The jokes on the rest of us.

Joshua never clearly recovered from the 3rd round knockdowns.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - June 1, 2019
Lets be real about what really just happened. AJ got super sloppy after the first KD and got himself beat. It was stupid, stupid, stupid. He didnt take Ruiz seriously. Looked like he didnt work on his cardio at all in camp then went in for the kill after the KD like he was fighting a tomato can. Ruiz may look like a tomato can, but he surely isnt.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - June 1, 2019
One of the biggest HW fights in history. Ruiz Jr. is for real. Gets up from a nearly lights out KD to take control. Took absolute control. AJ had nothing for Ruiz Jr after 3.

Under that fat is plenty of muscle and a very heavy skeleton. The fat is just a coat, like what he wore into the ring. I still don't understand why most do not understand that.SenorPipino wrote: ↑01 Jun 2019, 23:23 There were a few times in there when Joshua looked like the spitting image of Frank Bruno.

This terrible division just keeps getting worse. What dire straights. That being said, MASSIVE congrats to Ruiz, he deserves all the credit in the world.

I give fat fighters sh*t all the time, and will continue to do so in the future, and I stand by the fact that I fully doubt a fat guy like Ruiz can STAY Heavyweight Champion, but even the fact that he achieved it at all is truly stunning, and he's obviously much better than I ever would've imagined.
Kudos to Andy Ruiz. Biggest upset I've seen possibly the entire time I've been watching the sport.

I really think that AJ just can't take a good punch. He had no answers to Ruiz's pressure and counterpunching. Ruiz doesn't hit as hard as a lot of HW's, that we know. AJ just simply isn't the big bad ogre.sturm vogel wrote: ↑01 Jun 2019, 23:27 Under that fat is plenty of muscle and a very heavy skeleton. The fat is just a coat, like what he wore into the ring. I'd put it behind Douglas-Tyson. The old 42-1 stunner.gilgamesh wrote: ↑01 Jun 2019, 23:29 I give fat fighters sh*t all the time, and will continue to do so in the future, and I stand by the fact that I fully doubt a fat guy like Ruiz can STAY Heavyweight Champion, but even the fact that he achieved it at all is truly stunning, and he's obviously much better than I ever would've imagined.

This was about 25-1.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - June 1, 2019
Odds wise there have been bigger upsets than Douglas or Ruiz. But on the national scale when belts are at stake, these are the 2 biggest upsets at HW I can recall, though McCall-Lewis and Rahman-Lewis is close.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - June 1, 2019
True. Ruiz Jr is one badass boxer. He has great beard. He has great HW quickness, pop, and skills.sturm vogel wrote: ↑01 Jun 2019, 23:27 Under that fat is plenty of muscle and a very heavy skeleton. I am not sure that AJ wants any more of Ruiz Jr. EVER

Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - June 1, 2019
Fury was always going to eat AJs lunch over 12 rounds, but can you imagine Wilder swarming him? I can’t see AJ surviving more than a three or four rounds max.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - June 1, 2019
What a giant shock. Every since the Klitschko Fight Joshua has thought himself a long range boxer when he’s identity prior to this was a medium range seek and destroyer pressure fighter. His legs are not fast enough to be the former. He has to sort out his identity and game plan.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - June 1, 2019
He'd have lost to both, don't be silly.
Re: Anthony Joshua vs. Andy Ruiz Jr. - June 1, 2019
Exactly this. His chin is poor. Which is why his decision to wildly plant and trade bombs made absolutely no sense whatsoever. Even after Ruiz was punching back with authority AJ STILL stayed trading wildly with him in those exchanges. It was the most irresponsible thing I may have ever seen from a heavyweight champion.
