Well yeah, because i'm afraid that if Kov hadn't looked so good in the 1st 30 seconds or so of rd. 9 - not looked so good as oposed to really getting hurt badly - he might have actually thrown in the towel. You don't really want a trainer who's "anxious to stop the fight", but of course you don't want brain damage or death.

Kovalev carved up Yarde with the jab.
Sergey got rocked in the mid rounds and looked tired at some points but found it within himself to take back the fight back over.
Yarde's boxing ability ... His hook was fine, his chin was relatively solid until the end and his body shots were effective when he used them.
Kovalev was always ahead, Yarde prowled around keeping the fight close and rocked Kovalev at one point but was chased and not leading more often than not.
A few more miles on the Kovalev record, he looked professional, vulnerable, ruthless and disciplined today he get's a high mark.

Kov is actually quite a skillful boxer with a very good and hurtful jab. It's funny how he was so often depicted as some caveman. I guess if you have power and stop people, people just put you in that bracket.

Yarde and his people didn't pick up on the body attack till late.
They wouldn't or couldn't sustain it.

Kovalev totally outboxed Ward in their first fight. He has gaps in his boxing skills, but what he does, he does really well.

I kick myself when I think about the money I lost by not betting on him to win by UD in the Alvarez rematch. I had picked that, but didn't put any money on it. Good odds on that one.

Good fight today, got better as it went on.

Kovalev will obviously move to the big fights, Canelo, Ward who knows.
It was a good experience for Anthony Yarde, I get a feeling he knows where he went wrong.
The coverage was quality and the crowd got into it
