Bearing in mind that Eddie Thomas was both manager and trainer, is that percentage out of the ordinary??? Ken should have been as frugal with his money after his career. What was the cause of his marriage collapse and his kids estranged from him? Met him and his father Tommy once. Tried to ply me for drinks with stories. I wanted to hear them all but didn't feel like being taken. Great stories they had though. Good luck with todays game, Bennie. England and the US should make it through to the next round.

Castillo fought a guy I used to train with in Oklahoma named James Martinez. Carlos Zarate made his LA debut against James in 1974 at the Forum and stopped him in six or seven rounds. I worked James' corner three or four times, once on the card when "Memphis" Al Jones kayoed Boone Kirkman in Dallas, Texas.

Castillo fought a guy I used to train with in Oklahoma named James Martinez. Carlos Zarate made his LA debut against James in 1974 at the Forum and stopped him in six or seven rounds. I worked James' corner three or four times, once on the card when "Memphis" Al Jones kayoed Boone Kirkman in Dallas, Texas.

Ruben, will be picking Hafey up from LAX, don't know if he is staying at the hotel. Ruben is an okay guy, a little loud for my taste, but nice a guy nonetheless

The hotel is the Sportsman's Lodge. The hotel & event center are owned by two different people. The Lodge is a nice place to stay.

It wasn't really out of the ordinary, according to Buchanan in his autobiography. He said that most American managers took a third, and he was fighting largely in America. He wanted Thomas to take 25 per cent as most British managers do. England were hideous yesterday, Dan, really lousy. However, the USA showed great spirit in a great game and were robbed of a win.

Martinez was a great pro who fought everyone. I'm pretty sure he fought over here, too.

I remember James Martinez, he ended up being a steppingstone for a lot of the good lightweights of the early 1980s, I just looked him up in boxrec, didnt realize he was still fighting in the late 1990s, needless to say he should have quit 15 years earlier.

It will be great to see Art Hafey at the California Boxing Hall of Fame banquet next Saturday.

As a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers since the middle 1960s, I was very happy to see them win the championship this year, especially when their opponent was the Boston Celtics in the finals. Hope that the Lakers and Celtics meet in the finals again in 2011.

The U.S. did show quite a bit of heart coming back and getting a 2-2 tie against Slovenia yesterday. But I do worry about the fact that the U.S. has given up three "soft" goals during their first two games of the World Cup.

It is true that England has looked absolutely terrible in their first two games of the World Cup. I wonder about how the English team was put together because it appears that the players don't seem to compliment each other well. Of course, I believe that Steven Gerrard and Frank Lampard should not been on the starting eleven at the same time because their playing styles don't mesh well.
