we need the best referee, unbiased judges, taut + high top ropes, no headbutts, no low blows, no heavy costumes for the ring walk, lots of water for Eubank, drug test for Benn, non-slippy canvas, boxers taking knees to avoid ref waving it off, no crucifix kissing between rounds and no excess hugging. have i forgotten anything here?
I did consider that but that'd actually be great funrd350lc wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025, 14:17golden_labrador wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025, 14:12 hopefully there's no rematch clause and we'll hear no more of it after this weekend.

Snr could upset the applecart and rock up though and cause a kerfuffle.
Oh but there is..golden_labrador wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025, 14:12 hopefully there's no rematch clause and we'll hear no more of it after this weekend.
A 'big' fight like this and no Eubank SR in a big fur coat, monocle and jodphers isn't conceivable. He will be there to get some limelight and in WWE fashion if Jr wins, he will climb into the ring and kneel before his sone asking for forgiveness. Then tell the stadium how fantastic his son is, and a chip off the old block.golden_labrador wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025, 14:35I did consider that but that'd actually be great funrd350lc wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025, 14:17golden_labrador wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025, 14:12 hopefully there's no rematch clause and we'll hear no more of it after this weekend.

I guess you can never say 100% about anything Sr does or says, but he is firm on this fight and calls it what it is.MasterG wrote: ↑22 Apr 2025, 15:50A 'big' fight like this and no Eubank SR in a big fur coat, monocle and jodphers isn't conceivable. Three days out from the weigh-in and Chris already looks ill, weak and old. The gulf in class and experience may get him through but I think he's well and truly done at any level above gimmick. He should be a 175lb fighter these days.
I disagree. I think he's been weak at the weight since he went back to it in 2019 and it's taking its toll even more so as he ages.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025, 01:30 He’s been making 160 pretty comfortably his last few fights.
He’s got to officially weigh 160 and then weigh 170 on the morning of the fight so could be 175/180+ at the time of the fight.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025, 03:49 https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/ ... conor-benn
I can’t really tell from that face off, but I hope he doesn’t look anything like that disturbing picture here from 2022… My God.
I think he’s allowed to go to 170 on fight night this time…
I see, not sure how that’s gonna pan out. Not surprised his dad is pissed off at this, as it does seem a reckless risk..just have to hope Benn is a paper dragon as most people think - cause you don’t want to be messing with a motivated hard puncher in such a weakened state, at a relatively advanced boxing age.maverick23 wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025, 04:11He’s got to officially weigh 160 and then weigh 170 on the morning of the fight so could be 175/180+ at the time of the fight.MightyWarrior wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025, 03:49 https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2025/ ... conor-benn

I don’t like rehydration clauses but, as they go, this isn’t too bad compared to some (like the original Benn/Eubank fight date where it was 157/165 or say the Tank/Garcia fight).MightyWarrior wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025, 04:29I see, not sure how that’s gonna pan out. Benn’s probably just a gimmick who’s gonna get found out quickly, i hope. They could’ve used the original tagline here, Who’s fooling who?
I agree, I think this is hugely important, they portrayed it as the morning of the fight. In which case surely Eddie makes that 1159 for maximum benefit to Benn. Heard Hearn say yesterday he thought Eubank would be about 175 in the ring to Benn being around 168. Surely they can’t make the 170 any later than Noon as he will need to be taking on fluids etc but Hearns 175 comment makes me wonder if the cut off is later and the fact no one is mentioning a time for this is strange.gregregegg wrote: ↑23 Apr 2025, 04:28 Anyone know what time the 170lb weigh in is?
I haven’t seen anything on that but i feel it is theee critical detail.
