Chris Eubank Jr. was 160.2 pounds on his first attempt at today’s official weigh-in. Eubank weighed 160.05 on his second and last attempt, sources tell @ringmagazine, for a fight at 160. He’ll be fined $500,000, per the weight clause in the contract and can’t exceed 170 pounds at the same-day weigh-in Saturday morning or he’ll face further penalty.
As per above

I think it will be an entertaining fight to begin with. Benn has talked himself into a tear up so I think he has to at least come out and try to nail Jr.

Seems like wasted effort. Might as well have come in at 165. He's going to be a corpse in there

It's not like he's getting huge advantage from it. Looks like he did try to cut it

It’s surprising. CEJ has made the middleweight limit in each fight in nearly the last 4 years.
Is due to getting older? Has he cut corners?

Eddie’s wealth doesn’t really come into it.
If someone is consistently rude then there’s going to be a reaction which I won’t hold against them.
Just like if Eddie is being a nob about someone then it’s no issue for them to go back at him.
It is good/pretty new to see Eddie so rattled. He hates not being allowed to talk.
We'll have to disagree on this one.
My issue isn't the size of his wealth, it's the source of it.
If your business has a model that in part is dependant on participants risking physical and mental damage, there is a moral dimension at play here. To will one of those participants to get smashed to pieces is repugnant IMO.
As for action and reaction, as per my previous post, there has to be a sense of proportionality, surely you would accept that?
I'd have zero issue with him telling Eubank Jr he was being a dick. However stating he wants him to suffer significant physical damage in this most unforgiving of sports is just plain wrong.
I do see where you’re coming from but I wasn’t that bothered by Eddie’s choice of words. Perhaps I should have been but I didn’t take the words literally. If he’d said he wanted Benn to inflict long term damage etc then I’d obviously be well against it but I think he just used a throwaway line.
CEJ has called Eddie a scumbag, fraud etc so I’m not surprised Eddie wants to see Benn win well. I’m sure Eddie doesn’t want to see Eubank in hospital post fight but I’d imagine he wants Benn to do something similar to what Smith did to Eubank in the first fight and KO him early.
Yeh, fair enough mate. Realise this things can be subjective and completely valid points about CEJ's earlier comments

Normally I would agree but given he has to be 170 or less tomorrow he couldn’t come in 165 today. He had to get the weight down
Seems crazy a $500k fine for 0.05 lb…. That is a miniscule amount of weight.
Bro should have just cut his hair or something.
It’s 22 grams if my calculation is correct
Actually having just read a little bit more seems that Benn weighed in at 11:26 and Eubank had to weigh in within an hour of that. eubank turned up just after 12 and missed weight by 2 ozs stripped off completely , still over .. but by then only had 10 mins to try get last bit of weight off and basically ran out of time.
I wonder what time the weigh in was scheduled for ?

I think people may underestimate just how much long term damage the cut for the first Benn fight did to Chris and how that damage plus his age make getting to 160lb now so difficult without crippling your performance - even more so if Chris is a genuinely clean fighter.

He could just be less dehydrated. 5lbs less of water weight to cut would be a huge improvement for him on fight night. He would weigh the same tomorrow morning and weigh the same on fight night but would've been significantly less dehydrated today and the past few days

No wonder Senior has been so agitated.
It's obvious Jr is struggling to make 160 these days.

What does missing weight do to Jr psychologically ?
Whatever he’s getting paid, 500k is a big chunk to lose. Does that infuriate him and lead to a less composed performance ?
Was he planning on making 160 and then totally ignoring the rehydration clause ? If he was, maybe he can’t afford to do that now. So arguably he’s weakened himself by boiling down to within a crisp packet of 160 and now he can’t rehydrate to his preferred weight for money reasons.
Eubank may have won the build up but it seems Conor has won the weight battle.
