Re: Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn | PPV - 26 April 2025
If the fight didn't go ahead, would Benn still get paid?

It's also Benn and Hearn demanding that Eubank comes down to a weight that most people knew he'd struggle to make. Ridiculous that they're being allowed to get away with it.

When did they bring in the morning weigh ins? It must be fairly recently. It makes the ceremonial weigh in a waste of time, especially when it's been done so publicly.

Ceremonial weigh-ins are just for the people who enjoy looking at fit men in their undies. Women and gay men essentially.mickey1975 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025, 09:35 When did they bring in the morning weigh ins? It must be fairly recently. It was originally scheduled for 12. Eubank requested it to be moved forward to 11am yesterday I think.knockout wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025, 08:47Normally I would agree but given he has to be 170 or less tomorrow he couldn’t come in 165 today. He had to get the weight downjoshj909 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025, 07:59Seems like wasted effort. Might as well have come in at 165. He's going to be a corpse in thereRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025, 07:46 Chris Eubank Jr. was 160.2 pounds on his first attempt at today’s official weigh-in. Eubank weighed 160.05 on his second and last attempt, sources tell @ringmagazine, for a fight at 160. He’ll be fined $500,000, per the weight clause in the contract and can’t exceed 170 pounds at the same-day weigh-in Saturday morning or he’ll face further penalty.
As per above
Seems crazy a $500k fine for 0.05 lb…. That is a miniscule amount of weight.
Bro should have just cut his hair or something.
It’s 22 grams if my calculation is correct
Actually having just read a little bit more seems that Benn weighed in at 11:26 and Eubank had to weigh in within an hour of that. eubank turned up just after 12 and missed weight by 2 ozs stripped off completely , still over .. but by then only had 10 mins to try get last bit of weight off and basically ran out of time.
I wonder what time the weigh in was scheduled for ?

It’s the same weight Eubank has weighed in his previous 4 fights. He hasn’t weighed higher than 160 since 2021.

Last couple of years for the big shows. It started with the UFC.mickey1975 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025, 09:35 When did they bring in the morning weigh ins? It must be fairly recently. It makes the ceremonial weigh in a waste of time, especially when it's been done so publicly.
I don’t mind it. Gives the fighters longer to properly rehydrate.

Or on his own scales!
Saying that, I would def have them checked, you would burn off the half ounce waiting for it to be done

Need Joe G on the case .
It's beyond me why the BBBOC don't carry around a set of certified calibrated weights to chuck on the scales, how hard can it be ? .

Interesting contrast in reactions. Macklin saying it's no big deal, Curtis Woodhouse saying it means Eubank is fuked at the weight and has changed his prediction to Benn by KO.
I guess the fact Maklin was on Sky has to be taken into account.

It’s certainly not a good sign. He’d have hated being fined £500k with it going to Benn. Particularly when the difference was so little.
I still think CEJ will win though.

His Eggcellency, Conor Benn will now be able to buy half a dozen eggs with that £500,000 next time he's in the USA!
Re: Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Conor Benn | PPV - 26 April 2025
And he's looked like a corpse on the scales for those too. It's the rehydration clause that could cause the most harm.maverick23 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025, 09:53It’s the same weight Eubank has weighed in his previous 4 fights. He hasn’t weighed higher than 160 since 2021.

My prediction was Eubank by points or late stoppage as long as he doesn't caught early. I definitely won't be putting any money on it now.maverick23 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025, 11:26It’s certainly not a good sign. He’d have hated being fined £500k with it going to Benn. Pacman coming up against Oscar?
The bigger fighter was a shell. Who is reffing this fight?

I don’t think this makes a difference at all.
He’ll shrug his shoulders at £350k and still go out and KO Benn.
Most fighters struggle to make weight.

You said that Benn and Hearn demanded that Eubank comes down in weight which I think is very misleading.joshj909 wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025, 11:32And he's looked like a corpse on the scales for those too. They wanted the fight at the same weight Eubank has fought the bulk of his career at including all of his fights in the last 3 1/2 years. That’s not unreasonable to me.
I don’t particularly like any rehydration clause but it’s 10lbs by the morning of the fight so he could still be weighing near 20lbs more than Benn come time of the fight. Compared to some other rehydration clauses (Garcia when he fought Tank) it’s not an awful one.

Oscar hadn’t made welter in 6/7 years and had fights 2 weight divisions higher. He was done and overdid it solely trying to lose weight and came in well under 147.forcefraser wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025, 11:54 Pacman coming up against Oscar?

This is very different as it’s the weight Eubank has recently been fighting at.
The ref is Victor Laughlin.

Pacman was pretty much in his prime at that point. I must have been one of the few people I remember picking him to win. Couldn’t see it going any other way.forcefraser wrote: ↑25 Apr 2025, 11:54 Pacman coming up against Oscar?

Team Eubank seem rattled. Turning up late for the weigh in, missing weight and not having anyone present when Benn chose his gloves.
