Well Khabib steamrolling Barboza has been the highlight to an otherwise mediocre event. Man is an animal.... Got 2 30-25 cards in a three round fight which is unheard of in my recollection of the sport....

Khabib is a bad bad man. There's no way McGregor wants any part of that dude. Ferguson is willing but that've Khabib looked better than he ever has before and it was against at worst the second best guy he has fought.

Khabib knows his way round a fight

That first round was so brutal I couldn't imagine it not breaking many guys. Barboza has so much heart to stay in there and continue to try and win.

Unreal heart. I said during the fight that it looked like Khabib was holding back early in the fight. He could have submitted Edson in the first.

He's just an altogether different beast. He's 29 so time isn't on his side but I said previously that he might be the best we will see for a while. He might be considered one dimensional but the way he puts his grappling together and just how aggressive it is, is a thing of beauty. He looks like he's got every trick in the book to get you down and dominate you. It's a shame that he's been injury prone and not had his title shot because he's probably been the best LW on the planet for a good 3 or so years.

Yeah, he tends to rush in with his chin up, but the threat of the take down is enough a fighter would have to really commit to catch him.

As for being 29 and time not being on his side, his style and ability isn't really built on reflexes or other physical traits. He has high fight IQ, brilliant ability to apply his gameplan, and strong dedication. He won't be losing that for a long time. The only real part of aging that could slow him down is more injuries; otherwise I see Khabib hanging around the top for a very long time.

No way in hell Conor ever gets into the cage with this guy.

What's really interesting is the social media shift from Conor to Khabib. A year ago Conor could do no wrong, now he tweets about Khabib and is blasted by people telling him that Khabib will crush him if they ever fight. The missed weight seems all but forgotten now and people seem to be excited to see him do his thing against McGregor or Ferguson,

Russian(kinda) from the caucus mountains, dominant as anyone ever before him, technically brilliant, aggressive, wrestles bears, surprisingly funny and charismatic. I think he could end up being a huge star as long as he continues his tear. If the UFC puts their promotion power behind him I think he will be as popular as anyone's other than McGregor or GSP.

Good win by Souza, made short work of it.

Going back to Bellator last week, firstly I was interested to see the respect Macdonald gave to Lima. As badass as Rory's attitude is he seemed almost humble how he talked about Lima, great interview. Lima did much better than I expected in not being totally domainated by Macdonalds grappling, he had the edge but not as clearly as I'd thought he would have.

Secondly, I thought John McCarthy was a fucken brilliant co-commentator. His analysis of the technical stuff in clinches and on the ground was very incisive and informative, a pleasure to listen to, hope I hear more of him.

I'd be interested what others thought of that fight, it seemed pretty high-level stuff to me, two very good fighters in there, albeit I hardly ever watch UFC so my bar is probably set pretty low.

Anyone else feel Camacho was hard done by not to get the nod over Dober? Great fight though.

Mario Yamasaki had so many opportunities to stop that fornicating female fight. So did the chicks corner, poor form from both of them. Protect the fornicating fighter. 230-3 strikes landed isnt ok.

I saw some bitching about the Machida/Anders decision, not really sure why TBH. The fight was really bad. I had it 4-1 Machida, Anders just didnt do enough for me. At least one of the time he 'hurt' Machida he had just pushed him off balance and then missed every punch he winged at him before going for a TD only to have Machida pop back up immidiatly. I'm not sure one knee because it causes a cut wins you a round either.

I like Machida for some reason but I don't remember many guys who put on boring fights as consistently. When he finishes someone it's exciting but normally the preceding time before that is a total snooze fest.

Once again, John McCarthy is a spectacular co-commentator. Incisive, informative, I don't know if I've heard a better co-commentator in combat sport. I'd watch Bellator just to listen and learn from him.
