Nice one. However with the ridiculous scoring and Johnson's pro style (uppercuts, body shots) nothing would have surprised me.

It was 0-0 after one round in which Callum landed about 5 uppercuts that lifted McCArty's head up!

1430 uk time the first one - hearing that the Kenyan has some sort of groin strain and may pull out - if he fights hard to beat that Indian when fit let alone not able to move properly

Saunders getting jobbed by the judges after round 1.

4-1 down when he landed another 3, clear punches.

Saunders is going to get nowt here...there'll be a hang over from Ogogo getting that verdict against India's favourite.

Absolute farce this.

Don't disagree with the India having 8 points, but Saunders should have at least 6.

8-1 to the Indian after two rounds :witzend:

O'Kane 2-1 up against Ogogo after one.

I have it all square.

Ogogo throwing a lot, but O'Kane has a good defence.

England are getting shafted with regards to the scoring today.

8-2 to O'Kane after two. Right man winning, but the margin is ridiculous.

O'Kane boxed beautifully off the back foot and deserved the win. The margin was a farce, but what can you do?

16-4 to O'Kane.

Dodgy home scoring will see Britain pick up millions of golds in 2012 so it ain't all bad!

Seriously though, amateur boxing is too far removed from the pro game. Compact counter punching seems to be the order of the day. Body shots mean nothing

O'Kane boxed well, used experience and strength to win the day but let's be honest, who goes further as a pro out of them two?

Pleased for O'Kane. Seems a top lad!

Vailly slaughtered Ward. Stopped him convincingly and takes the gold.

What a day so far - everyone one of my picks have lost except for Barnes!

O'Kane and Gallagher to turn pro tomorrow - you listening Barry!?

Well I did predict that also - so I got 2 out of 5 right - not great from a prediction POV but great from an Irish boxing POV.

I was wondering how many more of the home-nations fighters will turn pro after these games.

It's a tough decision to make for the ones in their mid-20s. The prospect of winning Olympic gold on home soil in a couple of years is probably toying with their heads.

Some fighters the NI can be proud of. Good little team you have.

Well the thing is that NI is only 6 of the 32 counties of Ireland, granted two of the top 5 counties in Ireland are in the 6 NI counties but still many of them wont get in the Ireland team for the Olympics.

Whilst the Commonwealth gold will aid their funding status and it would be great experience and training before you go pro, they wont make the Ireland team for qualifiers.

Time is ticking on for O'Kane so he should turn before Christmas in my opinion and Gallagher, although young, is a crude, strong, rough-houser (Smith threw the gold away letting Gal fight his fight) and a probably wont get in the Irish team, he isnt in the High Performance team now, so probably should follow the dollar.

Little Red and McCarthy will hold on and Steven Ward is very inexperienced and has plenty of time to develop so no point in them turning.

Fighter of the tournament in my opinion is wild young Paddy Gal, I didn't give him much of a chance of getting past the first round, but he displayed a cracking "couldntgiveafúck" attitude in every fight and came out on top. Brilliant effort - kudos to you you young rapscallion!

So annoyed I missed all the finals fight :witzend: . I'm slightly surprised Taylor lost but it seemed a good fight! Glad us scots got a winner (He looks a real talented pro prospect!) well done to the Northern Irish who had some superb boys (O'Kane really caught my eye)

Another shout goes out to your boy Callum Johnson, fought great.

Tommy, dissapointed, he is a little like a luxury player in football, a Berbatov if you will. He wasnt at the race and fought the wrong tactics and couldnt adapt.

I think the experience of Stalker showed in the end.

I had the fight as a 50/50, but Stalker was dominant, and knew when to mix it up and when to back off.

Taylor has plenty of time on his hands to make plenty of noise.

I just thought Taylor could outbid him, but I must of underrated Stalker who didn't really impress me to much in his semi final. Ye agreed Taylor has a lot of time and this experience will only do him good

Just watched the Vailly fight, and he was a big favourite. And he was the right winner.
But i have seen amateurs get DQ'd before for hitting after being told to stop, and that finishing right hand was after the ref had called stop.

I thought that too. Commentators didn't mention the late punch though for some reason.
