Masayoshi Nakatani claimed the OPBF title in fight #7, he's 24 and fighting at 135

I doubt you'd argue those guys have the talent of Rigondeux, and I'd be shocked if you're going to say Ohashi and Ioka don't know how to promote manage and train fighters...
I'll be honest, I've never heard of him, or the opponent, should I have done? But do you honestly believe they'd throw him in there in his first fight if they didn't think he could win?
No reason you'd have heard of him or the opponent unless you follow the Asian scene.

Of course they thought he could win, but they also knew that their guys would learn something in those fights. It's aggressive matchmaking but it speeds up development a lot more than fighting the guys that Luke Campbell has been fighting

If he stopped him in the 11th, he should have stopped Coyle in the 6th and based on the stoppage in the 12th, Coyle should have been waved off after the first knockdown in the 6th. Tonight has proved Coyle's going nowhere though, glass jaw, 2 dodgy stoppages in a row, weak to the body and he's not that good anyway, Mitchell will absolutely paste him.
Exactly.
Aside from the fact that Brizuela got a point taken off on the first low blow whereas Coyle hit him in the bollocks god knows how many times before having a point taken off.

There's that many fighters about it's hard to say who should fight who, all I'll say is that none of them deserve a world title fight and none will ever be world class.
Cant argue with that.

Expe/Columbo - I respect your opinions but to say Mitchell would destroy Coyle is a bit harsh. I'm not keen on Mitchell anymore, he is a liability and mentally fragile. He outclassed a Spanish Gym instructor the last time and Coyle has had tougher fights in his last 3 fights than Mitchell has had.

Mitchell has still beaten better fighters IMO.

Yes, in the past but he has had his silver spoon and he never took the chances that were given to him. If that was Mitchell tonight I think he would have folded and lost. Any fighter who says after a fight in an interview " I fell out of love with the game and now I love it again" is kidding themselves on mate. He may beat Coyle, but I think Coyle can get up and stop him.

Coyles been the lucky recipient of an early stoppage last 2 fights vs non punchers.

He's there fur the takin.

Mitchell wouldn't have got into the position Coyle was in, that's the difference between the two. He's only ever fallen apart at world level, at every level below that he's looked a class act, right the way up to European level, Coyle's yet to show he's above domestic level. Mitchell may be fragile, but he needs to be pushed to fall apart, if at all, and Coyle isn't good enough and doesn't hit hard enough to do that. And it is possible to fall out of love with boxing and get going again, we've all been through periods in our life when we go off things, but in time we get back into them.

I agree that Coyle has more heart but I dont think he would of been getting dropped like that to begin with.

Well I think the fight between Mitchell - Coyle is going to take place in May on the Groves-Froch undercard (Nice Guy Eddie mentioned that), so we won't have long to wait.

I think we all have fell under the trap that Mitchell is a special talent. He is, but only when things are going his way, I think if Coyle hits him first and early he could make him think. I think it could be a great fight.

I dont think Mitchell is a special talent but I think he's better than Coyle and probably the best lightweight in the country bar Ricky Burns.

What is it with British referee's and ridiculous stoppages? The stoppage of Brizuela was a joke. Something needs to be done because some British referee's are not impartial enough, subconsciously almost certainly but that doesn't make it right.

Cracking fight though. Mitchell would destroy Coyle.

Did anyone else think that the ref was within rights to stop coyle? after each body shot when coyle get up he walked away from ref holding his body taking 10 seconds to lift his arms up, once you can accept not 4 times, fair play to coyle he does what he needed to do

Stopping Coyle would've been far more justfied than stopping Bizuela when he did.

All coyles knockdowns were body shots wheras the other guys were all head shots. Most refs will judge the latter much more likely to render the fighter unfit to continue.
