One fight I've always wanted to see (always checking YouTube in the hope it appears) Ayub Kalule vs Kevin Finnegan, it was supposed to be brilliant, I really hope it shows up one day.

Yes, it was a very good fight, but I think it was a bit too recent.

I wouldn't mind watching a Charnley fight.

Also been a bit of a bugner debate on another thread so maybe throw a bit of Joe in.

Richie woodhall aswell maybe.

Danny Williams against either Potter or Tyson?

Woodhall vs Malinga would be a good shout :TU:

Alan Minter's been mentioned a few times in the thread so I had a search to see what he's up to these days, and came across this lovely snap of him:

Nominations:

Counter-puncher - Alan Minter vs Tony Sibson or Alan Minter vs Kevin Finnegan I, II or III
davie - Turpin vs Robinson or Alan Minter vs Vito Antuofermo I or II
Stuarty30 - Bernard Dunne v Ricardo Córdoba
PredatorHayds - Dave Charnley vs TBA, Richie Woodhall vs TBA, Danny Williams vs Mark Potter or Danny Williams vs Mike Tyson
handsofstone - Ken Buchanan vs Ismael Laguna
Rexob - Richie Woodhall vs Thulani Malinga

I've gone with Alan Minter vs Kevin Finnegan II for week 13 (I couldn't find I or III).

Any more suggestions for week 14?

There's a very good chance that it will be chosen for next week's fight. I'll try to post that on Sunday or Monday. :TU:

Are there any other major fights featuring a British or Irish fighter from the 40s or 50s that are available?

It's sad how little available footage there is of the older fights.

The old footage, certainly of full fights, appears to be thin on the ground

Do we perhaps want to look at a profile of an old time legend. There are documentaries and compilations of some fighters where we perhaps can't watch a 15 rounder, we can piece together a collection and comment on what we have on a certain fighter.

Maybe for week 15 cover one of the following:

Ted Kid Lewis - https://youtu.be/KvaruylPBUM & https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=P ... M-TIoVKu5Q

Jimmy Wilde - https://youtu.be/ie9UAZDnV0I & https://youtu.be/0k7z50MwPKk & https://youtu.be/igryTKKR2Nw & https://youtu.be/PnF7o7YdTeg

Jack Kid Berg - https://youtu.be/Ae_yky14xtI & https://youtu.be/Bz9a95mI8Rw & https://youtu.be/1WSinpN6lKA

Benny Lynch - https://youtu.be/Amt7fs_DoBE & https://youtu.be/dwJs4V-TErg & https://youtu.be/y2iaIqLVTIA & https://youtu.be/4Dc-j0nG6UE & https://youtu.be/lh8mt2rix8Q

Bob Fitzsimmons - https://youtu.be/LVwNVzqQeeg & https://youtu.be/5clfV1gZV0A & https://youtu.be/ZZh--rmNfxk?list=PLot6 ... pUxGs_KuzM

Joe Louis Vs Tommy Farr is here
https://youtu.be/WsW3LcUIMH8

From 1937, looks to be the closest to a full fight with decent footage for a really old fight.
It was a ring magazine fight of the year and a British fighter going the distance against arguably the best heavyweight of all time

There also looks to be some kind of documentary on Tommy Farr https://youtu.be/upcpUHgzodY

Thanks for that.

Looking at profiles on the old legends is looking like it may well be the only option if we don't want to essentially miss out on 70+ years of British boxing history.

I think that we should watch a few more full fights before we have to resort to highlight reels though.

It was discussed at the outset of the thread.
Although it is boxing history, the theme is specifically British and Irish boxing history.

Horse started it as a project to learn a little more about boxing history and there are many on here are doing the same.
Over on Boxing history, it's full of people who know a helluva a lot about boxing history and many who pretend they do.

On here we have a few members, who perhaps spend a lot more time on here than on the other parts of the forum and maybe don't know a great deal about British boxing history but want to pick up a little historical knowledge.

If it wasn't suitable in here, I'm sure our fine moderators might have moved it on.

Nothing was 'discussed' Horse simply announced his intentions and this (and the many other tedious threads it's spawned) is the result.
