According to Mr Haye he likes taking people's '0's!

I suppose his next fight is going to be against Andrew Flintoff then!

Well the last '0' he took was in 2006 so he can't enjoy it that much.

In fact he's only taken 2 in his entire career.

I don't get the hate for that.

I thought the show on Sky One showed how difficult it was to train properly for a boxing contest. Especially when you're middle aged and fat when you start.

People made it sound like Flintoff was eating doughnuts and going down the pub for three months, and then got in the ring. Watching it, he neearly killed himself doing the training.

I get that the opponent was a journeyman who knew what his role was, but we were talking about an undercard fight here. Not a World Champion defending their title against an easily selected opponent. I have more anger with boxers who do that.

This was basically a documentary series, where an athlete from a different sport tried to have a professional boxing contest to see if he could handle it, and at the end admitted how much he'd struggled. I thought that promoted the sport quite well. Or at least would've done to the people watching it.

There are piles of top 30 guys with a 0, he just takes the weakest one every time. He'll never chose Ortiz for example.

What 'hate' are you referring to?

I had no problem with what Andrew Flintoff did.

My problem is with David Haye who told us all he was serious about this comeback.

I cited Flintoff sarcastially because he is unbeaten, something Haye made greats pains to point out about the latest daffodil he has lined up to knock over.

It just seems every time it gets mentioned on here, it's in an attempt to discredit Flintoff.

I understand that here it was being applied more as a comment towards Haye, I was talking more generally.

I genuinely feel sorry for the people that have already bought tickets on the premise that Haye would be fighting a world level fighter.

Then again, I bet they won't do it again.

God, this really is dross.

More fool anyone who shells out to watch this mistmatch.

I was always expecting Haye to be risk averse until he got a title shot - but this is taking it to new levels, he might as well be dragging people in off the street. No offence to his opponent.

Clearly just looking for a cash out fight against Joshua or Martin - or Browne if he isn't stripped.

I wouldn't be surprised if Haye is struggling to get decent opposition to be honest. He is a dangerous fighter so I doubt contenders are keen to risk a loss to him as he has no title. I'd rather he fought this fella than Briggs although I can't see Haye struggling too much.

But he's a big name, it'd be a great fight for a n unknown fighter because a win could really make their career.

Yeah of course, the trouble with that though is unknown fighters aren't going to get Haye a title shot very quickly, a good fight for them, not so much for Haye.

Spot on.

Next time, he needs to announce his opponent before the tickets go on sale.

He shouldn't be expecting folk to shell out hard earned £££s to watch him knock over a mannequin again, especially as he keeps claiming he wants big fights.

I think Flintoff himself will admit it was a stupid thing to do. It did boxing no favours whatsoever. It might have given Flintoff a brief insight into what it's like to be a professional boxer, but that's about it.

I think it promoted boxing fairly well, or it did if you sat down and actually watched the documentary on Sky One with his training. It showed what a struggle it was, and how hard the actual training is to be a fighter.

I must say with that on the other hand, that the top guys most likely ignore him, since he got absolutely nothing to offer.
Shannon Briggs is ranked higher atm, Hughie Fury probably offers more money, he's basically a nobody, especially atm.
Next to Valuev, who had pain in pretty much all of his bones and retired immedietly on doctors advice, his best heavyweight opponend was Monte Barrett, just to put an example of how good he was, he got KOed by Odlanier Solis in the second round in his next fight after David Haye.

I really can't take Haye serious as a top contender, in fact I doubt weather he can win against this bumfighter.

Another dire opponent for Haye. Who would buy a ticket for such dross. The undercard will probably be a write off too.

Exactly! I'll have to force myself to watch on TV after the last debacle! Looks like he's just treading water til a big pay day presents itself. Fair enough and that's his prerogative but I can't get up for this at all.

Terrible opponent.

They've basically dug out some schmuck with an impressive record on paper to fool the casuals who don't know any better into thinking it's going to be a good fight and that he's a good opponent.

Gjergjaj is awful. Haye should be fighting someone in the top 20.... Stiverne, Teper (or is he banned?), Breazeale, Ortiz.... all would be better opponents and all were free.

Teper is banned I think but the others you mentioned would've been a far better option.
