The devil is in the detail; if the case is against Cyclone Promotions Ltd then it won't make any difference to him personally other than losing whatever money/assets are in the company. Would cause a few issues in the family when the gravy train is derailed though I'm sure.

If its a case against Barry McGuigan personally that is a different ball game. Sounds as if its against the company though in which case he won't be made bankrupt.
The named parties who Frampton is bringing the action against is Cyclone, Barry McGuigan and Sandra McGuigan:

Cheers :TU: That clarifies a lot of the basic issues in play.

What stands out to me is the use of multiple Cyclone entities, contracts which made it unclear with whom Frampton was contracting, and company accounts which did not appear to register the income from Frampton's fights and yet racked up significant debts. I struggle to see what legitimate use there can have been for those arrangements.

If Frampton is happy as he stated then you can only assume what was found in them emails didn't give bazza and a leg to stand on and they had to settle.

But wasn't it Bazz and his boys that presented these emails, didnt they suddenly find them?

Carl Frampton and Barry McGuigan settle after 19 day legal battle

Carl Frampton has settled his multi-million pound legal battle with his former manager and fellow Irish boxing legend Barry McGuigan.

All litigation and counterclaims were stayed on confidential terms at the High Court in Belfast.

Frampton was suing his former manager and Cyclone Promotions for alleged withheld earnings of up £6m with regard to purse fees, broadcasting rights, ticket sales and merchandising.

Frampton’s counsel argued he had been signed up to a ‘slave contract’ and saw a 30% share of Cyclone profits reneged upon.

In a seperate counter suit, McGuigan claimed Frampton, who he told the court was previously part of the family and one of the best paid super bantamweight’s in the history over boxing, was in breach of contract by leaving Cyclone in 2017.

The pair battled it out in court over 19 days, but in recent days a resolution has been reached on all areas of dispute and there is now no need for any court proceedings.

The agreement comes days after it was revealed over 10,000 emails, previously believed to be wiped and potentially relevant to the case, were found on Cyclone’s system.

The case was adjourned to allow both parties to study the emails.

Mr Justice Huddleston was then notified last night that a settlement had been reached by consent.

An order drawn up today confirmed: “All further proceedings in these actions and counterclaims be stayed upon the terms set out in the signed and dated document entitled ‘Settlement of McGuigan v Frampton Litigation’.”

No direction was made on the costs of the case.

Not quite. Its a compromise. And Frampton is attempting to save face - what else can he say when he has settled? Remember, its the McGuigans who are the ones who disclosed the emails.

I would imagine that the emails arent harmful to the McGuigans and thus significantly undermined Frampton's case theory. Remember this particular court case relates to an action brought by Frampton.

The settlement, i suspect see's Cyclone and the McGuigans waive any right to Frampton's career income since the split. A clean break.

Frampton probably wouldnt have brought the case if it hadnt been for the McGuigans originally suing Frampton for breach of contract. Frampton has effectively had to stand up to them legally to get them to let go.

Ahh, it was the McGuigans who sued Frampton first?

I thought Frampton sued McGuigans first, then McGuigans had the counter suit?

Exactly right. If I had a case going that was going to net me 6 million in a court judgement I definitely wouldn't be settling. I think we will get the information about what happened eventually. There's a lot of ego involved and im sure it will seep out in interviews.

It’s quite rare for someone to get all of what they ask for. A lady I used to work with sued my old company for for £3.5m for unfair dismissal. She received £40k but had to still pay her own legal costs.

Whilst Frampton has claimed for £6m, both parties would have been quoted by their respective legal teams hours and costs to trawl through 10,000 emails and it will be 6 figures each easy. Even if the judge awarded the full amount to Frampton there’s no guarantee he’d get the money.

There seems to be some acrimony there. I think having a judge rule in your favour would be more than enough motivation to keep the case going. It does seem that the emails have prompted this settlement and it seems like it was the McGuigans who provided the emails.
