I've come across Bruno a few times and he is 100% not well.Cyclops wrote: ↑04 Jun 2021, 19:18Like I said before, decimation of the mental health services over the past 20 or so years probably haven't helped. Despite all the encouragement to get help if you're feeling down, quite often the help isn't really there. I also found (if we're going deep for a boxing forum) that despite there being this big thing about talking to your mates about it, when I had my wobble that put me on meds, my 'mates' for the most part didn't really want to know.
I know depressed people are boring but it certainly made me re-evaluate who was on my Christmas card list.
Anyway, my main scorn was reserved for people that claim Bi-Polar, which can be used for an excuse for bad behaviour, because anybody who knows someone who genuinely suffers with it will tell you what an absolute nightmare they can be, especially when manic. Tyson Fury, although I'm a fan, doesn't strike me as genuine Bi-polar at all. In fact, with his mood supposedly swinging all the time, his constantly contradicting himself and fibbing, and his frequent image changes, I'd have him down as suffering from some kind of personality disorder more than Bi-Polar. When I didn't like him before I often rubbished his and other people's claims that he was BPD. He's clearly got issues, but he's not Bi-Polar.
Dunno much about Bruno but Bruno has definitely ended up sectioned in the past. I think he's the real deal.

Bi polar gets thrown around a lot. I’m no expert but I’ve seen people who are , and I couldn’t see them ever functioning again properly , let alone win world championships.

Good post. The help really isn't there apart from being given anti depressants. You have to drop exceedingly darkly and have a long history of serious mental illness to get fettered to the mental health team. Its a nightmare mental illness. And some never get better.Cyclops wrote: ↑04 Jun 2021, 19:18Like I said before, decimation of the mental health services over the past 20 or so years probably haven't helped. The main problem I see is when they get settled on medication, they think they're cured and stop taking it! I've seen it a few times. And they end up worse.
Re: Unpopular opinions
The hardest thing when it comes to mental illness is that you can't always recognise the signs of it, being depressed doesn't necessarily mean you sit at home in the dark crying all day, you can appear to be a perfectly functional person from the outside.

the meds can be very effective these days.....as long as you stick with them

I got prescribed mirtrazapine once. I only took it twice. Horrible, stopped me sh!tting, sleeping, the lot. Got told to give them a few weeks, I didn't even need them. I'm at my best completely drink, drug and medication free. My body seems to hate any medication except Benzo's!

Funnily enough a serious amount of porn stars are meant to be bi polar or have no polar tendencies. That explains a lot !Liston Like Jab wrote: ↑05 Jun 2021, 12:11Good comment.mickey1975 wrote: ↑05 Jun 2021, 04:54 The main problem I see is when they get settled on medication, they think they're cured and stop taking it! That is accurate for some people, but not all. Also depends on how severe the bipolar is in the first place. I have it, it's been diagnosed,. I've had it since childhood and I have controlled it with will power for the last 20 or so years. It hasn't been easy and that wouldn't work for most people I don't think, but it works for me. If the girl who works for me comes off her meds, she becomes a wild banshee; spending loads of money, making bad life choices and doing extremely dangerous things. It's a very complicated issue and it doesn't help that most sufferers see the GP, get some meds and are waved goodbye
