Liam Smith: "That [Elbow] Accusation Made Eubank Look Laughable"

"That (elbow) accusation made Chris look laughable rather than anybody else," Smith told The Daily Mail. "He’s come with the elbow, he blamed the referee. Because he activated the rematch clause he’s got to come up with some excuse and he really is that stupid he’s blaming all different excuses.

"It was the referee at one minute, it was the elbow the other minute, it was the weight one minute, it was (trainer) Roy Jones’ fault the next. He’s blaming everybody bar himself.

"He can bring the best coaches in the world. I just think he’s that egotistic, you can’t really change him."

"Any of those fights excite me. Any of those fights are big-money fights for me," Smith said.

"There’s still a chance (of going down to 154). It depends what comes available. If (Jermell) Charlo vacates the four belts then I can maneuver myself in a position after Chris and fight for one of them titles then yeah, I’ll do light-middle again.

"I beat Chris again and I should get a healthy ranking at middleweight also, so we’ll see."

Dave Allen: "I Expect To Outbox Frazer Clarke and Knock Him Out!"

"I am the underdog with the bookies and probably with everyone but in my eyes, I am a big favorite," Allen told Sky Sports.

"It is a fight I fully expect to win and it is a fight I was massively surprised to get the call for. I didn't think I would get the call for this fight to be honest so I expect to win. I am the underdog to many people but, to me, I fully expect to win."

"Frazer is an old friend of mine, I have known him since 2012 from the amateurs and we have always got on great," said Allen.

"I respect him massively as a man and a good fighter. You don't win Olympic medals if you are not a good fighter but I would say this is a big mistake. I genuinely really, really fancy the job and if I didn't, I wouldn't be doing it.

"I just think I am better all around. People might laugh at that but I expect to outbox him and to knock him out to be honest. I am not just saying that, I haven't got to talk anything up. For once I can come in quietly and go about my business but I fully expect to beat him."

Boxxer seem to be wanting to do a show at the end of September and seem to be struggling to get a big fight for Riakporhe for that date so perhaps they’ll want Whittaker to do a prospect show or something.

Apparently Signani-Denny to land on that end of September date as well. There were the rumours about Viddal Riley-Quarless on Sept 16, maybe that gets pushed back.

If he dominates then there would be no need. I think he would need to go for it and meet smith head on and take it to him. How many times did Smith catch him with a right hand over his jab. Eubank just isn't good enough when hes doing his backfoot flashy routine. We need to see a ferocious Eubank making a solid point to Liam early. The uppercuts were successful and I think he needs to load up on them early. Getting done the same way as last time would be so disappointing for Eubank.

Liam Smith: "Eubank Has Vulnerabilities Now, He Knows I Can Knock Him Out"

"So that makes him dangerous," Smith told Sky Sports. "Do I think Chris is scared of me? No. He's got vulnerabilities now and he's probably got 'fear' of me as in he knows I can knock him out. Fighters are not scared in that sense. Clever maybe."

The first time around, Eubank was boxing and moving.

Smith is crossing his fingers that Eubank will enter the ring with the mindset of coming forward to apply pressure.

"A lot of people are going to be sitting thinking, is he coming for a fight with Liam? Is he going to try and stick it right on Liam? If he does then we're in for a well better fight than we had last time," Smith said.

"I'm better when somebody comes to me and tries to fight with me. That's my ideal opponent. I don't want to be chasing no one around the ring, I don't want to have to be having to cut the ring down off somebody which I had to last time. So if he comes to me for a fight, great, I'll meet him head on and he's easier to catch. If he's in front of me, he's easier to catch."

Adam Azim Aims To Score a Dramatic Knockout on Smith-Eubank Card

Unbeaten prospect Adam Azim will be looking for a statement win next month, when he faces Aram Fanyan on September 2 in Manchester.

The bout will be featured as part of the undercard to the rematch between Liam Smith and Chris Eubank.

Not only does Azim want to win, but he also aims to score the biggest knockout of 2023.

"That would be lovely. I was thinking about it when I was coming back from sparring, I want to get one of the best knockouts this year," Azim told Sky Sports. "I want to come back, get a spectacular knockout. Show my class, show my skills, show everyone."

Fanyan, while not a big puncher, is regarded as a solid boxer. He's racked up 23 wins with a single defeat - which came by way of a close decision.

Arzim is taking the fight very seriously.

Because of Fanyan's boxing ability, Azim realizes that he might be forced to work hard to secure the knockout he desperately wants to claim.

"He's coming to win, he's no joke," Azim said. "He's got good fundamentals, keeps his shape well. I don't think he's a pressure fighter. I think he's more of a back-foot fighter. He's the guy who makes them commit. He likes to stay back, he doesn't like coming forward. If he comes forward, I'm ready.

"If he goes backwards I'm ready to go front foot on him. I'm ready in both different ways. I feel like my speed in the early rounds is definitely going to penetrate him. I am definitely going to go into that ring, dictate the pace and break him down slowly. To get that knockout I've got to stay disciplined, got to stay focused, got to box his head off to get the knockout."

Mikaela Mayer and Lauren Price continue world title pursuits when they both return on Smith vs Eubank Jr rematch bill

Mikaela Mayer and Lauren Price continue their pursuit of world titles when they both return on the undercard of Liam Smith's rematch with Chris Eubank Jr.

Mayer, who previously held two world belts, takes on former EBU European super-lightweight champion Silvia Bortot in Manchester on September 2, live on Sky Sports Box Office ahead of Smith vs Eubank Jr 2.

Price can also extend her perfect professional record to five victories, keeping the British title holder on course for a potential fight against the recently-crowned welterweight champion Natasha Jonas.

Unbeaten British contender Caroline Dubois will also be in Manchester, watching Mayer closely from ringside, after she was linked with a future fight against the American star.

“Mikaela Mayer is a world class competitor and we’re delighted to announce her addition to what was already a stacked undercard for this ‘Smith vs Eubank II: Repeat or Revenge?’ blockbuster pay-per-view event,” said Ben Shalom, BOXXER CEO.

“Mayer was a big hit with British fight fans on her last visit here but one person she didn’t impress was Caroline Dubois. We know Caroline will be ringside in Manchester for this bout and she’s had some things to say about Mayer recently, so if Mayer wins on September 2 then maybe we see those two square off in 2024.

“The achievements of Lauren Price MBE speak for themselves. She’s an elite competitor and while some people might think it’s early for her to be talking about professional titles, she’s a world-class talent and she sees no point in waiting around. She will be looking to make a statement in Manchester and I’m sure Natasha Jonas will be watching closely.”

Smith and Eubank Jr return to the ring just over eight months on from the electrifying January encounter which ended with a Smith stoppage victory after a frenetic four-round firefight.

Mayer and Price complete a card which also features super-lightweight sensation Adam Azim against dangerous Ukrainian Aram Fanyan, a big domestic heavyweight clash between Frazer Clarke and David Allen, a welterweight encounter between 'The Albanian King' Florian Marku and Irish rival Dylan Moran plus British super-middleweight champion Mark Heffron defending his belt against Jack Cullen.
