Yes, Usyk battered Fury from pillar to post in that round, however, this is the biggest fight there can be and under such conditions the fighters need to go out on their shields.

You are right. There would need to be a retrospective reason that the fight "should" have been stopped at that point.

Fury was trying to evade and survived.

Case could be made that he was a little lucky that he got through it. Looked a bit mercyful from Usyk too. I think there was twice some movement that maybe looked like the ref was thinking of interviening.., he was very ready to, for sure.

It "could" have been stopped and maybe some refs "would" have. But that's a very opinionated view, without merit really. Fury got through 3 more rounds afterwards, so there can be no basis that he was technically knocked out in the semse of being unable to continue. Ref got it right.

Monster still #1 for me. Great win by Usyk but wins in big heavyweight fights are always a bit overrated, IMO, especially right after the fight. People were saying Usyk was an all-time great minutes after the first Joshua fight too, Monster remains the most dominant fighter out there

He was undisputed in two weight classes before Usyk, he's a four-weight champion, and he's more dominant than any other active champion.It's also true that heavyweight fights get way more credit than any other weight class, but beating someone up who is much heavier than you (who was even considered an ATG) is still a big deal. Their difference in weight is about the same as Inoue's from 108 to 122, percentage-wise.No matter how you look at it, Inoue and Usyk are already legends and absolute ATGs. What a time to be a fan.

Yup, I am a big Usyk fan, he has overcome physical disadvantages. Monster has dominated four divisions, was undisputed in two (like Usyk), barely loses a round in most of his fights and has knocked out almost everyone he fought. I’d have Usyk or Crawford, who dominated three divisions and wiped out an undefeated champion to unify, #2. Definitely would have Usyk #2 if they’d stopped the Fury fight when they probably should have

Usyk is great fighter, but was Fury really considered an ATG? I enjoyed watching him and all but I didn’t know anyone considered him an ATG.

Fury was in good shape compared with his last fight. I'd not call Fury an ATG, but the small Usyk beating such a big crafty HW and unify all major titles, it's definitely an ATG achievement! Imo Usyk is already an ATG fighter. I mean for an eastern european fighter he pretty much achieved everything in boxing. You have to understand that Usyk had a much, much harder road than if he was a british or an american fighter. That the true.
