It is something that ought to be discussed mightily.

There is always discussions whether somebody is "natty" or not. I remember interviewing Mike Weaver and asking him whether he took steroids and he said he just was naturally gifted genetically. I didn't buy it then, and don't quite buy it with Joshua either.

How many men do you know who are almost no body fat, and rippling muscles of enormous size and not taking something? I'd venture to say zero. He doesn't have a fighters physique. He has a bodybuilding physique, which is why he basically sucks when he tries to be a textbook boxer because he's so musclebound he has no fluidity in his punches.

Did you tell Weaver you thought he was a drugs cheat? I bet you didn't.
As for Joshua being a drugs cheat remind me again which heavyweight got banned for using nandrolone?

That 'did you tell him to his face' thing is such utter rubbish. People are entitled to make observations about other people without having to fight them to 'prove' it.

Hearn now claiming Wilder is 'the most overrated fighter in the game.'

When Wilder KOs Joshua in December Hearn will be telling us Wilder is the greatest puncher in history.

No shame in that. He beat McCall who destroyed Lennox.

Not just an overrated fighter, according to Hearn, 'the most overrated fighter in the game.'

The most overrated fighter in the game and the greatest puncher in history as well?

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me. What do you think?

It's a boxing promoter speaking about one of his boxer's main rivals. There's always been shit talk involved with that. Not sure why, in this instance, it should be taken literally and not the usual hyperbole?

Hearn's already acknowledged that a fight between Joshua and Wilder could end with one connection from Wilder, so the part where you stated he'd suddenly be claiming Wilder as the greatest puncher in history, well, he's ack'ed the power that Wilder possesses already, so it's not as if he's changing his mind on that part of it.

Not sure how Hearn can acknowledge Wilder could knock Joshua out with one punch, yet claim he is the the most overrated fighter in the game.

Few, if anyone, rate Wilder the best heavyweight in the world but most rate him 3rd or 4th best because that is a reasonable assessment of where he stands.

Based on resume I would say Joshua is #2 but I have always said because of Wilder's reckless Max Baer style and punching power he's rather unorthodox so he is #2 based on how difficult it is to get over on him. I've always rated him 2nd to Tyson Fury.

do people actually watch wilder fight? his style is as basic and predictable as it comes............continual pawing with the jab, standing off, and setting up 1-2s. rinse and repeat. he gets wild when he hurts someone, but his overall style is not unorthodox at all, it's one of he most over said things in boxing

a KO coming suddenly because a guy is a huge puncher doesn't = unorthodox style

Wilder doesn't do what everybody else does, that's why he is referred to by many as unorthodox. For starters, Wilder doesn't attempt to win rounds - he admits that himself - instead he simply stalks his opponent, waiting for the opportunity to knock him out and when that opportune moment arises that is almost invariably what happens.

Re: Anthony Joshua vs. TBA | DAZN - August 2023

he stands off and paws with jabs and throws a lot of 1-2s, that is not some rare approach to boxing. his offensive repitoire is in fact extremely predictable

people just confuse ko out of nowhere with his style itself being unorthodox or unpredictable, but it's not at all. throwing punches from strange angles or ranges that people don't expect would be, switching regularly between southpaw and orthodox would be. having an arms down herky jerk style with all sorts of head an upper body movement would be.

throwing a punch of pawing jabs and 1-2s isnt.

Unorthodox means contrary to what is usual, traditional, or accepted. It doesn't necessary mean unpredictable.

What Wilder does is simple and predictable but very hard to counter.

Re: Anthony Joshua vs. TBA | DAZN - August 2023

The rare approach is that he basically bum rushes at people instead of cautiously or scientifically. You're taught to not do so, yet Wilder has made being a reckless brawler work for him. That's why he's unorthodox. Watch his matches and watch Max Baer's matches and they're pretty much identical.

And when Wilder comes in light (212 or so) he's able to throw a rather large amount of power punches even if he's missing many of them like in the first fight with Tyson Fury.

Re: Anthony Joshua vs. TBA | DAZN - August 2023

he isn't even remotely a bum rushing brawler. he stands at distance and does lots of feinting and staring and pawing at his opponent, ocassionally mixing in 1-2s, hardly anything other than jabs and straight rights. this makes up 90 percent of his fights and he rarely deviates unless he's trying to finish a fight or is hurt and fighting out of instict

a lot of people seem to only remember the kos and not all that came before it...
