Probably does now. That fight would always have been a case of whoever lands first winning. Trouble for AJ is that he waits so long nowadays, he’s almost certainly not landing first.

6'6 from the horse's mouth. He's pretty much bang between AJ and Fury in the photos I've seen. Marketing hype, innit.
Tyson was always 5'11.5 instead of his real 5'10, even though it was mentioned he'd measured the latter during the commentary to one of his early fights.

You say tentative, I say measured.

Mcgregor is morphing into the post career Robert De Niro version of Lamotta.

He didn't overextend himself because he didn't have to, but the question remains could he. He'll need to roll some dice versus Wilder, so we'll find out.

it's almost been a year again since wilder last boxed . seems like he's half retired , josh is trying to be a slick boxer. fury is fighting an mma guy.
we need a new generation to step up....

at points in that fight, Fisher was doing peekaboo à la Mike. if someone teaches him to build everything off that jab, he could be golota without mental problems

I haven't seen the fight but reading accounts of it, it sounds like AJ is still gun shy and unlikely to trouble Wilder.
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Joshua vs. Robert Helenius | DAZN - 12 August 2023
In the end he got the highlight reel KO. And that's all that will be remembered and all that was needed to build the Wilder fight.

wilder was troubled by artur szpilka, eric molina, gerald washington, twice by ortiz.......i wouldnt be sure on it. it's like people have had their memories erased of wilder's career. he's also 38 in a few months, had gruelling stoppage losses in 2 of his last 3, and hasnt completed a round in almost 2 years. it's a risky fight for him too.Redback Rasta wrote: ↑12 Aug 2023, 19:49 I haven't seen the fight but reading accounts of it, it sounds like AJ is still gun shy and unlikely to trouble Wilder.

Boxing isn't dancing. It isn't about being pretty or technical. Wilder just knocks people out and he'll knock Joshua out..margaret thatcher wrote: ↑12 Aug 2023, 19:57wilder was troubled by artur szpilka, eric molina, gerald washington, twice by ortiz.......i wouldnt be sure on it. it's like people have had their memories erased of wilder's career. he's also 38 in a few monthsRedback Rasta wrote: ↑12 Aug 2023, 19:49 I haven't seen the fight but reading accounts of it, it sounds like AJ is still gun shy and unlikely to trouble Wilder.

oh sure, maybe he does, but he's been troubled by several opponents worse and lighter hitting than joshua. it's a risky fight for an inactive 38 year old
Re: Round-by-Round: Anthony Joshua vs. Robert Helenius | DAZN - 12 August 2023
Joshua looks like he is still scared of getting hit/getting Andy Ruiz'd, he was flinching a lot against someone that wasn't showing any power and was there to survive.

Wilder's chin against Fury was insane. it doesn't die. AJ's chin is shot. Wilder bangs more than AJ. I can't see how Wilder loses this fight, but we won't know until it happens, I guess.
And there's no way Wilder is nervous going into it.

wilder is nervous going into pretty much every fight, people always focus so much on his knockouts that they forget how stand offish he is until he hurts someone
he's barely been touched since fury ktfo him and is closing in on 40, im not sure his chin will be holding up like it has. i thought fury hurt him easier in fight 3 than fight 2 as well

It could all depend on the size and weight of his ring entrance costume.

Wilder sucks, but he does have pretty legitimate power, which he carries late. He is made more dangerous by the fact that he throws from strange angles given that he never learned to box properly.
Despite spending over 95% of his career avoiding challenges, when he finally thought enough time had passed to safely "step up", he actually ended up showing quite a lot of heart, grit, and tenacity in losing efforts.
His grit alone will be more than enough to propel him past AJ.
