Correct, they only hinted at the weight issue, it was clearly the reason Benn got that and not the great tactics they were on about. BBC calling it a masterclass

How can people put up with his cringy FAKE VOICE? Every other commentator uses their own natural voice except for the times when they are hyping up the action when something important is happening. The man has put on a scowling over exaggerated voice like he is telling an exciting story he is trying to hype up to a bunch of children. He really is an absolute mug of epic magnitude. Even the average horse racing commentator is usually taking it easy in their normal voice until the final furlong. They are not spending the entire race commentating in the same way they do when it's the final furlong. I mean, does it really take someone to have to take classes on commentating to learn not to use a ridiculous fake voice all night and start shouting and screaming and growling out the cliches non stop? I really really can't stand the bloke.
He's probably growling in bed. "It's a cacophony of noise as I'm rodgering my wife!!"

Absolute plum.
All legends.Grilling Machine wrote: ↑15 Nov 2025, 20:36 Carpenter, Gutteridge and Darke had their flaws, but their standard of commentary feels a lifetime away. I suppose for young 'uns it is!
He gets abuse because because hes shite.Spud MK2 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2025, 12:41 Adam gets very unfair abuse.
i can’t remember whether its this thread but Adam got some outrageous abuse and unsubstantiated accusations about his private iife.
I am absolutely delighted Adam has recovered fromv
cancer and is fighting back.

To be fair Leprechaun, whether you like him or not. He’s employed by dazn. He doesn’t have a hold on them.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑19 Nov 2025, 09:21Spud MK2 wrote: ↑16 Nov 2025, 12:41 Adam gets very unfair abuse.

I don't give two f*cks about his cancer. I have family members who have had it and they never came along and swindled a living by doing something they are incredibly poor at and make us all have to sit through his nonsense. Ruining every boxing event weekly.
I have nothing but contempt for him and he needs to be off commentary once and for all.
But he goes around calling himself "The Voice Of Boxing" so theres no chance he has the integrity to stop. Horrific for boxing fans to have him commentating weeky.

If you were in a job you actually thought you were bad at but your manager brought you in for a chat and offered you a pay rise, are you going to reject it.
Slag off Dazn if you don’t like Smith, not Smith.
Also there doesn’t seem to be much in terms of alternative. The Mike Costello experiment fell flat. Maybe Smith is cheaper than the yanks.
I will agree on the "a star" commentator thing - again very probably not his call.... but I don't like that. Could you imagine you are a prospect and you were fighting on the Undercard of that bout - a moment to savour for the rest of your life, but you get the "B team" commentary and the non Michael Buffer ring announcer - the way that the wheel out the "a team" - Buffer, commentary etc for the main event only does annoy me.TheLeprechaun wrote: ↑19 Nov 2025, 10:37stujones wrote: ↑19 Nov 2025, 10:00

I also hold Dazn acccountable but if I was in a job that I was clearly inept at and was causing untold annoyance to innocent members of the public, then yes I would have the integrity to leave the job. I will absolutely slag off Smith as he goes around calling himself "The Voice of Boxing" and coming out as the "A Star" commentator and personally ruined many a boxing fight for me. It's not only me who slags him off. There is a very large number of us who absolutely can't stand him. I'm just speaking out in honest terms. We have had enough of him. For christ sakes is several decades not enough!? He really needs to pack his bags and f*** off from commentary.
Not for me, I like ron but for the wrong reasons. Ron is comedy value … the clock face , the Edmund Honda reference….. I love his commentary but for his Ronisms….. a bit like Jim Neilly for his cock ups “Gilbert Eastwood”NazNaci1 wrote: ↑19 Nov 2025, 13:05 Personal well being and successes aside, he really is awful as a commentator. He does really need to move aside but won't.
To think we had Reg, both Jim's, Harry Carpenter and this is the 'A Star' we have. To be honest, not many good ones around today. A bit of a lost art.
He is on Buncey's level and below big Ron, for me, and that is saying something.
