The Creme of the Crap . . .bennie wrote:One thing we can be sure of this Saturday in Helsinki: Carl Froch against Arthur Abraham is going to be a war.
Froch, the big, strong Nottingham man of Polish descent, faces the big, strong Abraham, a German of Armenian descent - two powerhouses coming together, two powerhouses desperate to win after their last fights, their first ever losses. It whips up a mixture marked 'explosive'.
Froch was outsmarted by Danish star Mikkel Kessler earlier this year in Denmark to see his record fall to 25-1 (20) while Abraham got slung out against slick American Andre Dirrell over in the States and fell to 31-1 (25). Neither defeat signifies the end. Indeed, a quick look at Froch's record tells you that he has never faced a puncher like Abraham, but then, Abraham has never faced a super-middleweight like Froch, with his iron jaw, his long arms, his heavy hands and his cleverness. Abraham was down at middleweight just a year ago.
The key to the winner of this one lies in Froch's chin. Abraham is going to hit Froch with the kind of shots that buckled his previous opponents, and the cocksure Briton is going to shrug them off and fire back. Both men enjoy great stamina, so the fight is sure to hit the later rounds, by which time Carl's greater natural strength will begin to tell and he seals victory with a particularly big finish.
Froch, on a brutal decision.

Thanks for clarifying that Remy. I'd be pissed too if I had to travel miles & go to another country to see the fights.Panzerfaust wrote:It a ban on arranging proffesional fights not boxing gyms. The idea of the boat has allready been talked of, theres talk of arranging a fight on the norwegian-danish ferry with our female boxing star, Cecilia Braekhus.CNorkusJr wrote:Remy-Though pro boxing is illegal there; I'm thinking that you mean pro match up on a fight card is disallowed. Is training in gyms allowed or boxing gyms outlawed to operate there as well. A fighter can train in the gym and then go fight in other parts of Europe -thats what I'm driving at.
If the gyms are outlawed- are there any underground (not seen) gyms running but out of view of the general public.
Back in the 1920's here in the states they banned alcohol. The era was called "Prohibition"- but every state had more operating bars in it than anyone can imagine- mostly called "speak-easys" back then. For some years before that, a few, but not all states here banned boxing too around that time. Boxers fought on boats on the water-to get around the state property ban on boxing. I am not suggesting that can happen over there either. But there are more than a few ways to skin a cat.
I'm sure there are guys there that wish to become boxers-though it might mean travelling, and hard to get licensed or sanctioned.
How do you see it over there ?
But having to travel often means quite poor economic chances for the fighters aswell as recieving few breaks always having to fight abroad. Thuss!!!!!! (and this pisses me of the most) I have to go abroad to see a live show

Frank, you better contact Tom and have him provide legal interpretation of the "Kept Man Manuel".
Something seems amiss?
My vision of being a kept man included things like total freedom, unlimited sex, time to write, workout, sleep, travel, etc.![]()
(And even a few things with the wife.)
You're my "Kept Man" mentor, and it seems things aren't quite as I expected?

Audie isn't a boxer's, he's a dolly grip in the film industry and is working with me on "Spider Man-4" at Sony Studios.
I've known Audie since the late 70's, when we both broke into the film industry at Universal Studios, and when we cross paths on film sets it's always a great chance to discuss the career of Audie's dad, who is the real Golden Boy.
Yesterday, we were discussing former promoter Don Fraser and Audie told me he's known Don his entire life, and that Don and his mother had both worked in the same bank as tellers when they were young.
Rick I tried to milk the fall as much as I could, but Connie wasn't buying any of it, "start cleaning or see your computers shot", said Connie....Rick Farris wrote:Rick, Connie has been on my ass to help her clean the house because the family is having Thanksgiving dinner here, she told me if I didn't help her she was going to shoot all my computers....

Frank, maybe you can get one of your doctors to write a note "excusing you" from housework.
Have him suggest that house work could result in a seizure, and that computor involvment is theraputic.
And maybe you should try to squeeze a few more miles out of that fall you took the other day.
Consider a limp? A delayed reaction from the accident.
Galantly volunteer to help, despite your infirmary.
Explain that it would have to be something you can do sitting down (eliminates just about everything, even dish washing.)![]()

I'm only interested in the Jets this season, win or lose.
No Jets, no football for me on this holiday.![]()
Last week I looked to see if the Jets were televised locally and they weren't.
So as I sat writing on the computor, I followed the game on line.
I was very happy when the Raiders came to L.A. as they were still THE RAIDERS.
First season here they brought L.A. our first Super Bowl trophy.
After that, they seemed to go Hollywood and fell apart.
I was glad when Al Davis packed them up and moved them back up North.
Maybe it's better if we in L.A. don't have an NFL team?
I'm enjoying the Jets and the quarterback who couldn't get a snap playing behind Matt Leinert at USC.
Sanchez is learning, and doing pretty good for a young QB. I believe he will get better with time.
