There are a few of Mayweather Promotion fighters from Mickey Bey to J'Leon Love whom have failed drug testing and received bans.mickey1975 wrote:Ive watched DeGale since the schoolboys, he doesn't get bullied by anyone. He looked almost suspiciously strong. Perhaps it's wearing a belt, perhaps he's using Floid's dietician.

I don't mind other opinions, I don't mind the official result. I just can't see a case for Degale winning 3 of the last 5 rounds. I thought Jack was clearly in control down the stretch, and Degale at best could've taken 1 of them. Not 3 of them.Horse wrote:I scored the fight 114-112 to DeGale, which is the same margin that lots of people scored the fight to DeGale. Scoring this fight to DeGale by two points is not an unusual or clearly biased scorecard.gilgamesh wrote:Giving Degale 3 of the last 5 just shows how blatantly bias you are in favor of U.K. fighters.
You scored it 114-112 to Jack, others who scored it differently are not necessarily wrong. Maybe you should try to have more tolerance for other people's opinions.

Fair enough I suppose. I've just never seen your opinion NOT favor the British fighter. Which makes your opinion a lot more questionable to me.Horse wrote:That's just your opinion and many others will disagree.gilgamesh wrote:I don't mind other opinions, I don't mind the official result. I'm sure horse has scored against British fighters. I just can't remember specific instances

I reckon Jack may have been on something
He didn't flinch once when caught by Degale.

Degale is not a huge puncher, but I have to say I have my suspicions as well. It was the brute strength Jack showed and the energy he had which shocked me. He was bossing Degale from the 5th round onwards.horndawg80 wrote:I reckon Jack may have been on something

I realise you can`t cry PED every time someone puts in a performance you didn`t think they had in them, but something didn`t look right to me. He busted Degale up badly and for me he nicked the fight. Some balls on Chunky to stand up to that last round barrage and fire back like he did in the last 15 seconds.

I'm not saying Jack isn't tough and didn't take some solid shots but I thought DeGale struggled to land a lot of his big shots clean,Jack done a great job of covering up and taking most of the shots on the gloves and arms and partially blocking a lot of shots too, there weren't any shots DeGale landed where I thought Jack did well to stay on his feet or not be wobbled
Re: Round-By-Round - James DeGale (IBF) vs. Badou Jack (WBC) - January 14th 2017
I think the Edwards blowout loss was a bit flukey. Fighters with respectable durability can be caught cold early like that.horndawg80 wrote:I reckon Jack may have been on something

Agree. Remember thinking the same when he fought groves. Literally nothing was stopping him. Not many stand up to groves before wilting at one point but no matter what groves hit him with he,d be there firing back...coming forward like the terminator. Stamina was unbelievable. Also looks a lot more solid that when he got knocked out

Jack and the Baltimore youngster they looked off. I actually said this to a friend after the youngster from Baltimore beat one of the best fighters in his division with ease.
I'm sure they would have checked after the fight anyways so its all speculation.

I agree with BBJC. Over the course of 24 rounds neither Groves nor Degale backed him up properly or wobbled him.....
Granted Jack maybe tough but it looked as though he could've continued for another 12 rounds
I'm adamant he was on something... Degale's face was a mess. Never seen him like that before.
How would Froch have faired against the 'new' Jack?

Were Degale and Rebrasse hurt any more by Groves than Jack was? And Degale is a bit if a slapper and not really a major hitter either, so not being significantly bothered by his shots doesnt scream PEDs to me
Groves outworked Jack, and Jack's output wasnt exceptionally high against Degale; remember that he didnt really get going until the 4th
Maybe people just still underestimate Jack, and/or overrate JD? Was James"I need to take the next 6 rounds off" Degale supposed to have an easy go in there? He was an 80-17 percent favourite going by this poll, but overall their showings against common oppinents are very similar. Degale also was roughed up a bit in his previous fight , against someone Jack easily stopped prior to the Edwards loss. Porky Medina on the stuff too?

Well there were plenty of accusations being thrown around about Porky Medina too after the DeGale fight. Although as I stated in an earlier comment, maybe people are just overestimating DeGale's own strength & toughness.crusader wrote:Were Degale and Rebrasse hurt any more by Groves than Jack was? Degale is a very good fighter, but his stamina is suspect and it has shown in every fight since he has reached world level.
To accuse Jack of juicing just because he did 12 rounds with an opponent who takes several rounds off every fight seems a little presumptuous.
Call me naive, if you like, but I like to believe that Jack has a good engine and knows how to pace himself.
His defence has improved a great deal too since his loss to Edwards.

Jack never looked like a fighter who was struggling with the weight, his workrate was solid and he came in on the scales about a pound under the limit

Degale looks like one of the most overrated British boxers of recent times.
Such a shame darren Sutherland didn't stay around. Degale could only beat him by hitting and running in the amateurs. That wouldn't have worked over 12 and I'd be even more confident after watching the jack fight. Groves had suspect chin and stamina. Froch had massive holes in his game. Sutherland most likely would have been the best domestically at least.

A touch of the Winky Wright's about Jack (although not at his level). Degale found it very difficult to get through the defence which is why I scored most rounds to Jack. Nice to see a fighter with such a high guard still show the ability to throw good combinations, especially to the body when most fighters would leave themselves open.

Accusations just based on Degale having problems with Medina? Maybe Degale, despite being quite a handy boxer, isnt as good as some think. Perhaps not everyone needs to be on PEDs to have their moments against him.Boxerbeetle wrote:Well there were plenty of accusations being thrown around about Porky Medina too after the DeGale fight. Just saying what i was seeing in the groves fight. Groves hit him with some great shots. Every single time he brushed it off coming forward. Rebrasse was stopped in his tracks. Pretty much everyone who has been in against groves that hes hit....including froch. Who regrouped before coming back later in the fight has been.
But this was terminator mode. Groves has a great output but he could have doubled it jack still would have came back at him. A guy that was bowled over twice against edwards falling about the ring with a pretty ordinary shot. I d like to know if jacks always been like that against groves and degale. Or hes suddenly became a beast in the last couple of years.
Cause i ve not seen that often. Even froch got hurt at times. Looked tired at times. But jack especially against groves just couldnt be stopped. Stamina was ridiculously good. May be wrong and its to the guys credit but my thoughts at the time we re hes got to be on something. His punches dont seem to tire either. Degale and groves,s did but jacks hitting as hard in the twelve as he did in the first. And degales been trained by an absolute fitness maniac in jim mcdonnell. Just my thoughts on it.
