Deep down, euros LOVE the controversial stoppage because it gives them a fake crutch and takes away from the fact that Kovalev was surely on his way to defeat. If thats a standing 8 count hes down 3 points on 2 cards heading into Round 9 in a fight where he was gassing badly. He was done. Stop with this nonsense. And this coming from a guy who started THIS thread stating he bet on Kovalev. I'm just being realistic.

In all honesty, I get sick of some of these idiots complaining about every US or black fighter, they know who they are. So no matter who won, I was a winner. Happy if Kovalev won for more excitement in the division or happy if Ward won so these idiots could shut the Hell up. Unfortunately, they still think Kovalev would have stormed back, dead tired, to secure a KO.

Case in point, I wanted Wlad to beat Joshua. Yet I still picked Joshua to win. Just because I root for one guy, doesn't mean I think he will win. Or not give him his props after a win.
But the "idiots" were right. I was getting sick of reading the prefight excuses, but they all turned out to be true. Posting a resounding "Haaaaa." doesn't look any more unbias than listening to RJJ commentate.

I scored it 5-2 Kovalev, giving Ward the opening round, which also could've gone to Kovalev. 4-3 Ward is off.
To each their own sir. I could see 4-3 Kovalev, I just think 5-2 is too high. What were the official scores, if given?
Someone said 2 judges had Ward up by 1 and another had Kovalev by 3.

Do you think Kovalev got a fair deal in both these fights?

we'll never know it, what we know is that the fight was stopped right after Kovalev was repeatedly hit in the bollocks..

I want to see Ward at CW, destroyed by Usyk or Briedis. I really want to see him KO'd. His dirty style has been killing boxing for years.
Kovalev passed his prime, I wrote about that last year, on this forum, and almost noone agreed with me.

I had Kovalev winning the first fight by a point. Close fight. Not a robbery.

I had Kovalev AHEAD slightly tonight as well but could how badly he was fading.

You're right. Ward was up on 2 cards by 1 point & the 10-8 round would have given him an insurmountable lead because Kovalev was fading fast and was far too faded to close that gap, even if he lasted the full 12 (which is highly unlikely).

Ok, thats honest , but do you think there was bias by judges first fight or weeks second fight?

Well, at least I'm not alone in Ward by one. Blodhemn had the Kovalev scorecard, so I guess we were both accurate!

Ya'll on this board more hurt by the stoppage than Kovalev is. Kovalev looked unsure if he even wanted a rematch.

I had it 4-3 Kovalev at the time of the stoppage. Ward was DEFINITELY winning the 8th however so it was about to be even if not for the f*cky stoppage.

I didn't think Kovalev won the previous 2 rounds. By the looks of him, it seemed he was fading. Most of the fight he seemed a bit slower and lethargic from the first fight. Which he faded in too and vowed he corrected.
