Been discussing this fight with my wife.
She wants to watch it. I don't want to bother.
I'm waiting to see who wins the argument.
I'm sure our argument is more entertaining than this fight will be

Yup. He's pure crap.
I'm getting the impression that you really don't hold Schwarz in very high regard.

Don’t pretend that you won’t be watching. We all know your wife calls the shots.

All right. But just remember. There's a certain legendary boxing figure who insists that Schwarz is a "more formidable fighter than Andy Ruiz."
How is it possible that 2 people can have such divergent opinions of the same fighter?

Ruiz is levels above Schwarz. Who was that legendary boxing figure? Bob Arum? Tyson Fury?

If you can't trust the view of those 2 knowledgeable boxing stars, who's opinion can you trust?
Joe Tessitore's?
BTW, the crappy Tom Schwarz is now only a 20-1 underdog to Fury. The odds have been whittled down from 50-1.
There's a lot of folks out there who have faith in crappy garbage types.

Not crappy garbage, just pure crap!

Casuals hoping to cash in on upset-itis.

Has there been a rash of recent upsets?
One a couple of weeks ago but that's about it. People don't give much thought to throwing away money at the books.

That's the only one. But it made cross-over news so it's a pile on, I suspect.

I'd willingly defer to my wife's viewing preferences if that meant watching boxing.
There's less chance of that than Fury performing ritual disembowelment in mid-ring to signify his retirement from the contest.

Would Ruiz have fared any better against Fury last night? I don't think so.

I do. We seem to forget the 'no hope' scenario before Ruiz beat AJ.

You really think Fury would have knocked Ruiz out within 2 rounds?
Ruiz might have very well done the same to Schwarz as Fury did.

I think Ruiz is now being just as over-rated as he was under-rated before.

I don't see that as being true. No one in the forum is calling Ruiz the best HW out there today, or consider him a world beater. Quite the opposite, it appears to me that opinions on Ruiz have been quite reasonable. He's third best currently and could very well lose the rematch. But...he's better than most of us gave him credit for.

He's better than Schwarz. That's for certain.
And even a pre-Joshua fight Ruiz would have been a solid favorite over Schwarz.

Ilya please tell me you don't seriously think Fury would have put down and kept down a man that Joshua caught flush with a perfectly timed right uppercut, left hook combination yet got up and battered him ?
There is a reason only two men have finished a fight with Joshua without having been stopped, and a reason why Ruiz was one of them.
There is also a reason nobody ever put Ruiz down before.
There is also a reason why almost everyone of us said Schwarz was a no hope patsy, selected for the sole purpose of making Fury look awesome. This doesn't mean I wouldn't pick Fury to outpoint Ruiz.
You were kidding weren't you?

No I wasn't, but maybe you're right and maybe I'm right. I've watched Ruiz before and I wasn't impressed with him. I saw him fight a weirdly unmotivated looking Liakhovich (who also threw his fight with Briggs) and thought that Liak was robbed or at best it should have been a draw. I think there was something off about his win over Joshua. Maybe Whyte was right about Joshua and drugs, maybe Ruiz got him with a lucky punch, maybe both... or maybe Ruiz has suddenly turned great.

...............or maybe Ruiz utilise 99% of his potential, and Joshua only 50% of his potential..........
Nobody knows..............

Tyson Fury looked absolutely fantastic last night against an admittedly limited opponent.

And wasn't that Arum's goal?
To bring in an opponent who would make Fury look "absolutely fantastic?"
He want to succesfully sell Fury-Wilder ll next year. It wasn't a huge attraction in the US last December, luring only 325,000 PPV buys.
Rematches usually do even less. Arum needs Fury to look destructive leading up to Wilder ll if he hopes to make a few bucks off the rematch.
Putting Fury in with the Tom Schwarz's of the world certainly does that and helps whet public appetite.
I expect Fury's next bout to offer the same level opponent as Schwarz.
