I thought apart from the 8th round? where he came on strong, yarde pretty much done fuk all apart from walk forward and take punishment. But apart from that how the fuk is he so highly rated by fans and BOXREC? I get that you can manipulate the wbo/ibf ect... but on boxrec hes ranked higher than joe Smith, sullivan barrera, callum Johnson and others who are far better boxers. I don't understand why. Hes beaten nobody like!!!

Yarde needs to work on his defence, he has a very good chin but you cant take shots like that from top draw fighters and win. He had kovalev in a world of trouble, but these top boys dont just fold when you hurt them.

Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑24 Aug 2019, 20:55 Yarde will take some recovering form this, such a confident fella is Yarde, but time and time again we have seen how much of a different story it is when these fighters suddenly have to deal with someone who fights back and with venom.
It's too much of a gap even for Yarde being at peak physical condition. Yes he's done a few quid out of it, but ultimately he wasn't ready. His ranking was always overly inflated and this is the result.
We all knew the gap was huge, yards had to be a lot better than his competition suggested, his lack of amateur pedigree means he wont be able to improve much. Hes like a slightly better eubank jr.

Lots of answers to the questions we had before. No one likes an after-timer but...
Yarde’s defence - Needs to pick that lead arm up. There’s a case to be made for him being much more effective stalking behind a high guard. Seemed to refuse to move his head at times whilst getting popped with Jabs. Good thing his chin is solid and we know that now.
He needs to cut some muscle, he was gassed far too quickly and looked very slow after looking sharp early. Think between him and Joshua it’s time to take notice. Muscles don’t win fights.
He’d have known about his stamina issues if he fought a 12 rounder beforehand. A live body would’ve taught him some lessons about his defence and engine.
Don’t want to be doom and gloom, I think with a trainer change and a bit of refining and conditioning he can be world level. I’m certainly gonna be a big fan from now.
Canelo fukken bangs Kov now.

I wonder if Yardes tactics were to try and let Kovalev wear himself out for 6 rounds and then cone on strong in the second half of the fight. Maybe explains why he seemed ok losing all the early rounds. He nearly had him but I think those early rounds took more out of him than he expected and he just didn’t have enough in the tank.

Kov showed himself to have a champion's heart which maybe he needed to do after the manner of his 2nd loss to Ward. He looked what he is, an elite boxer- levels above Yarde - who's on the slide and whose punches don't carry the same pop anymore. Fairplay to Yarde, he took on an incredibly difficult task and showed real bottle when things got tough.
Wouldn't like to see Kov, one of my favourite fighters of recent years, fight the ginger cherry picker. Kov would've destroyed him 3 or 4 years ago but age and lifestyle have taken their toll on him, he looks awfully brittle and I can see Canelo doing to him what he did to Fielding

I think Canelo will absorb whatever Kov can throw, and crumple him with body shots.

Buatsi v Yarde a big fight now.
Re: Round-by-Round: Sergey Kovalev vs. Anthony Yarde - 24 August 2019
I still favor Kovalev and probably he should take the Canelo offer, while he can, cause he has nothing left to prove. He already had a great career and has a chance of retiring on a high note with a huge payday.CaptainSpacerod wrote: ↑25 Aug 2019, 02:36 Wouldn't like to see Kov, one of my favourite fighters of recent years, fight the ginger cherry picker. Crumple & cripple him with those soulcrushin' mindblowin' body shots!overhand_right wrote: ↑25 Aug 2019, 02:45 I think Canelo will absorb whatever Kov can throw, and crumple him with body shots.
Everybody got it?
Canelo will wickedly end old kov's career with earthshattering punishing punches to the Body that leave deep violet bruises, an evil beauty to behold. Canelo should be forbidden to go to the body, too damn cripplin' & crumplin'! Kov will wince, moan & topple over as soon as canelo goes to the body!
Will the unbeatable mexican bodysnatcher do it with or without a tailor made for canelo rehydration clause?

Yarde is young & strong as a fornicating horse.
Fvck off with the coach or keep him for pad work.
Employ a real master in the art of defense in boxing.
Cut out the cool moves, the weight lifting & the half-assed shoulder roll! Keep your hands fvcking up! Learn to move your fvkking head!
He was fukkin spent and still tried to walk kovalev down, tapping himself 'cool' on the head, showing kov where to hit him!
Learn to fvckin JAB! from scratch.
Move down to supermiddle without the retarded bulk!
Start sparring before fights!
Apart from that he has power, heart and is as tough as they come!
Hope he learned his lesson & tunes down one notch on the arrogance, total confidence is doing fine.

I agree Kov should take one last big cheque but I think it ends painfully for him. He has had a great career, it's just a shame that he didn't get to face Stevenson in what would have been a career defining fight.DrDuke wrote: ↑25 Aug 2019, 03:47I still favor Kovalev and probably he should take the Canelo offer, while he can, cause he has nothing left to prove. Didn’t David Haye go through a similar ‘I don’t believe in old fashioned running, I’m doing cross fit in the gym’ phase? But after quickly running out of gas against Carl Thompson learned a lesson.

Yarde needs to go back to square 1 now and master some basic boxing skills, rather than trying to act like a combination of Roy Jones and Floyd.

I was thinking this as well. He started doing work around round 7, but emptied his own tank in round 8. Didn’t recover.Controversial wrote: ↑25 Aug 2019, 02:36 I wonder if Yardes tactics were to try and let Kovalev wear himself out for 6 rounds and then cone on strong in the second half of the fight. kovalev is no longer the beast he once was...wouldve took yarde out in 4 at his peak.
yarde , at 28 will make no impact at world level....hes a good physical specimen, but hes no boxer.
the real villain of the piece is tunde ajayi. if he has any boxing knowledge at all he knew he was throwing his man to the wolves, wholly unprepared . yarde might never recover from that.
they all made money
any youngsters out there hoping to win titles.....learn your basics from coaches who employ conventional wisdom ,tried and tested over the years. knocking out 25 journeymen will not prepare you for the big beasts at the top.
watch this fight listening to the commentary by tim bradley and andre ward....guys who really do have the knowledge.

Yarde can come back from that, he knew he was in over his head, no psychological damage, and really not that much of a beating relatively speaking.

Yarde ate the jab a bit but didn’t get caught with many power shots and very few clean shots
