Fair enough but i think you are wrong. The 2 best both in their prime. Its a great advert for british boxing

Peter Fury: Anthony Joshua-Tyson Fury is Pick'em Fight To Be Honest

"Be a great fight. Both up for it, aren’t they. So it’ll be a great fight if it happens. Both have different styles though, Tyson is a totally different style to Pulev," Peter Fury stated, according to The Sun.

“It would be a great fight. Those shots [AJ landed against Pulev] wouldn’t be landing on Tyson so clean. He’s an exceptional talent but if AJ can land, anyone is going down. But the same for Tyson – he’s a puncher as well. So it works both ways. It’s a pick’em fight to be honest.

"I think [Joshua is] a little bit hesitant in there. I think when he fires those jabs, he needs to fire them in combinations and let his hands go. He didn't seem to let his hands go much [against Pulev], but when he did let them go he was lethal. He waited too long for me. But every fighter has things to work on. For me, he’s too upright. There’s no lateral movement, he needs a lot more of that because Tyson has got a lot of that. He’s got that in abundance, actually. He can bend right down there and fire a shot! He’s very awkward. Listen, Lennox Lewis is the last undisputed heavyweight champion. The fans want to see this fight so let it happen. I think it would be a great fight.”

Can Joshua set the pace? He needs to. I think the way to beat Fury is to make him fight at your pace and make that pace relentless. Make Fury tired and you'll dull his brain.

Joshua should come in light and be throwing 50+ punches per round.

Wilder threw about 35 per round in the 1st fight and fewer than 30 in the second fight - both are horribly low volumes but even worse was Wlad. Wlad threw an average of just 19 punches per round versus Fury.

It is testament to Fury that he dictated the pace and opportunities the way he did but if Joshua allows himself, or is forced into such a paltry output as those other two, he has very little chance. He must come out like a Holyfield type fighter and make Fury work from the outset.

He can’t do anything like a Holyfield. Tyson will offset him with the jab straight away.

He's screwed then. If he can't set the pace, he won't win. Tyson needs to be breathing out of his arse or the only way he'll go is by a punch from the gods.

i don't think his footwork is good enough to put him into position to force Fury into much of anything

was rewatching a little bit of both of them the other day and (notwithstanding the fact that this was 'confirmation' of my pre-existing biases/preconceptions) the thing that struck me was just how much more advanced Fury's footwork is. Quite apart from the much greater general looseness and fluidity he has, which have their own benefits, his movement is just on a different level to Joshua's IMO and I can't see beyond that (again subject to bias and preconception).

If Joshua had been much more aggressive post-Ruiz i may think slightly different as I agree Joshua's chance is to be aggressive, i don't know if he is mentally up to that task as he seems gunshy.

those two factors together make me very confident for Tyson

Joshua hasn't got nearly what it takes to put Tyson in the predicaments he needs to put him in to beat him, you can explain it any number of ways, footwork, ring iq, what ever, it's just not going to happen for him as tyson is in a different category

I've firmly been in the "Joshua has no chance except for a lapse in Fury concentration coinciding with him throwing a bomb" camp. This is one of the reasons why the fight doesn't really do anything for me. However, in view of the fact this topic is going to be the primary focus in boxing for the foreseeable, I've decided to get into the spirit of things by looking at ways Joshua can give himself a real chance. Hence my earlier post.

Like a geek, I have just had a look at Joshua's punch stats and there's nothing to suggest he can do what I suggest. He does have rounds where he'll throw 60+ punches but not round after round. He averaged about 34/round versus Pulev, for example. In short, this era of heavyweights are boring and don't work hard enough to inspire me.

The older posters, like myself, have been spoilt. To give you an idea, Bowe averaged 59.25 punches/round in the first fight against Holyfield and 65.5 punches/round in both the second and third fights. Joshua throws less than half as many punches and Fury fewer still. Boring fighters.

Ha. :TU: I won’t say any more, I believe datsue said it all (and better) a couple of years back. The little guys (say 130 and below) have been the only reason I’ve stayed with boxing, cos here’s the thing, they’re little, many people think like you, and if they don’t fight each other and take challenges they don’t make a bean.

I imagine at least you appreciate the tough Darwinist approach of the Japanese fighters challenging for belts very early rather than marking time for years? Wouldn’t happen with bigger men I don’t imagine

Arum on Fury-Joshua: Hearn Will Send First Draft of Contract on Tuesday

Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, co-promoter for WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, explains that a deal is inching closer for a unification clash with WBA, WBO, IBF, IBO champion Anthony Joshua.

The two sides are in serious negotiations for a two fight series in 2021.

Their first fight would land on a date in May or June, at a location to be determined.

Arum reveals that Joshua's promoter, Eddie Hearn, is sending over the first draft of the fight contract this week.

"I talked to Eddie,’ Arum told TalkSport. "Eddie, with the Joshua people, will have the first draft of the contract to us on Tuesday. And then I will circulate it to [Fury co-promoter] Frank [Warren], to Tyson and to the various lawyers. We’ll then get back to Eddie with our comments and I really believe that this is pretty much a no-brainer because everybody are professionals and want this to happen.

"So I think shortly we’ll be able to tie this up and then jointly select the site. When we get the draft we’ll have our input and send them back a red line copy. They’ll study it and send us back a copy, and within a week or two we’ll have a complete meeting of the minds, I’m very confident. And we’ll get a document that both parties can sign."

Once the two sides are able to reach an agreement on the terms, then a location will have to be secured. The UK would have been the preferred location, but the current COVID-19 restrictions would prevent that scenario.

"The appropriate place would’ve been the United Kingdom," Arum said. "But with the restrictions and uncertainty, we’re looking for a site someplace else – be it the Mid-East or Asia. And I’m sure that once we get this document signed, we’ll jointly be able to select the site and get it announced."

Eddie Hearn gives big update on fight contract

As speculation continues to grow over a potential blockbuster heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury in 2021, the first concrete sign that a deal is imminent has been realised.

After months - and indeed years - of conjecture whether the two British fighters would ever meet, promoter Eddie Hearn has revealed that the initial drafts of a contract have been made and exchanged between himself, Bob Arum and allegedly.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Hearn revealed that a big step has been made toward making what would be the biggest fight in British boxing history.

With a possible two-fight deal in the pipeline, Joshua's promoter detailed the first draft had been concluded, adding that this time, there is a will to finally bring the two fighters together after multiple failed attempts.

Hearn stated, "The first draft of the contract has now gone out to Bob Arum, which is obviously a good thing. The contract reflects the positive nature of the discussions we have had so far around this fight."

Joshua, 31, the two-time undisputed champion, has sought to unify the WBC crown with his WBA, IBF and WBO titles since beating Wladimir Klitschko in 2017.

As a fight with Deontay Wilder failed to materialise however, former champion Tyson Fury returned to the scene and went on to stun the Alabama man in February of last year.

Joshua himself ten went on to reclaim his belts from Andy Ruiz Jr. in their own rematch.

After the Watford man beat the durable Kubrat Pulev at Wembley's SSE Arena in December, there appeared to be no obstacles left to thwart the showdown meeting.

Indeed, now the fight looks something close to reality, with the likes of Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Abu Dhabi registering their interest in hosting the lucrative event.

An agreement is yet to be fully met however, as Hearn added that Fury's camp, namely Arum and Warren, are expected to respond in the coming days.

"We now await their comments before we all move on to agreeing a location. We hope to have something signed within the next two weeks."

It is thought a June date is being drawn up, with fight purse set to be split 50-50, with the optimistic projection is that site fees and pay-per-views could count towards a £100m payday for each man.

The proposed rematch is understood to be on the terms of the winner of the first fight drawing a favourable 60-40 divide.

Fury-Joshua: Hearn Hopes To Have Deal Signed Within Two Weeks

Eddie Hearn, promoter for WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua, is hoping to have a signed deal in two weeks time for a unification with WBC champion Tyson Fury.

The two sides are in serious negotiations to finalize a two-fight series, with a mutual goal of staging the first bout on a date in May or June.

Earlier this week, Hearn sent over the first draft of the fight contract to Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum, who co-promotes Fury.

"The first draft of the contract has now gone out to Bob Arum, which is obviously a good thing. The contract reflects the positive nature of the discussions we have had so far around this fight. ‘We now await their comments before we all move on to agreeing a location," Hearn told Daily Mail.

"We hope to have something signed within the next two weeks."

The first contest is very unlikely to take place in the UK - with several overseas locations expressing big interest in hosting the event.

Arum expects a lot of money to get paid out by the location that eventually secures Fury-Joshua.

"There will be a substantial site fee, if it’s done outside of the UK and US," Arum told the 3KnockdownRule podcast.

"It will probably be the biggest money fight in heavyweight boxing history. There’s all professionals working on it - and it’ll be massive. You can’t count your chickens before they hatch, but I am optimistic of how well this fight will do, both from the site standpoint and the pay-per-view standpoint. Particularly in the UK, where we think we’ll do over two million homes."

Joshua was in action back in December, when he knocked out mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev in nine rounds.

For his part, Fury saw action in February 2020, when he stopped Deontay Wilder in seven rounds to capture the WBC title.

Tyson Fury: I’ll do to Anthony Joshua what I did to Deontay Wilder

You can watch the full video up top, but here are a few highlights:

On the fight with Anthony Joshua

“[I’ll approach Anthony Joshua] just like I did with Wilder. They said he’s going to box and move, he ain’t going to put it on ya. What did I do? Straight at it, bombs all the way through until he got stopped. ... [There’s no danger because] I’ve got a bigger heart. Tougher. Mentally stronger. Physically stronger. Bigger man completely. Punch harder. Everything is in my favor. When I take it to them, they can’t handle it. It’s like wrestling with a T-Rex. They can’t win. ... I’m indestructible, unbeatable. Can’t be beat. If I’m injury free and active, there’s no losing. Can’t lose.”

Thats expected, although I won't pay that much. There's no way they'd make the money rumoured if there wasn't a huge price hike. I hope it's not very successful and they don't try it again in the future.

Yes. It was said that it won't sell so well in the US if it's in Saudi Arabia due to the time difference (though Spencer Oliver seemed to think there's only an hour difference between the UK and Saudi) - so UK viewers pay even more to make sure two sportsman actually face their best competitor...what a concept!
I won't be buying it and unless the pubs can show it it'll be the radio for me.

Eddie said a while back the price will begin with a 2. It will sell, hugely.
