80-20 seems harsh. Means whyte will likely make similar amounts in this fight to when he fought Parker for no belt or chisora II for no belt.

But hey they can do what the want. Just wish they at least ruled 75-25 now that that had been offered. I can see this getting messy with Whyte trying to accept the offer and bob trying to take it back and everyone grumpy.

well, the standard for a interim champ is 45, and he just got downgraded to 20, so im not sure that's lucky . how low have the wbc ever gone with the split

The thing is if we follow the wording of clause 2.16, they are effectively breaking their own rules. They have discretion within the limits of 70-30, 60-40, 55-45, and 50-50. So they are just messing everyone about by saying 80-20.

2.16 Division of Proceeds in a Purse Offer. The net purse offer (after deduction of all sanction
fees payable to the WBC hereunder) shall be divided as follows:
(a) first, 10% of the total shall be set aside as a bonus for the winner of the contest,
then, of the remainder,
(b) 70% of the remaining 90% shall be for the champion and 30% of the remaining
90% shall be for the challenger in title bouts; and
(c) 50% of the remaining 90% to each contender in the case of vacant titles or
elimination bouts; provided, however, that the WBC Board of Governors, may by a majority vote, authorize a modification of the division of purse offer proceeds between boxers in a purse offer in particular cases, such as consideration of outstanding marketing value of one of the boxers, as the WBC shall determine in its sole discretion. The modification of the split of the
remainder shall be limited to 60-40% and 55-45%, except in the most exceptional circumstances, in which the split may be modified to 50-50% at the WBC's sole discretion.

The above is from their current updated rules and regulations.

WBC obviously decided to return Whyte a favor of his lawsuits.

I think you are correct. Also if it is true that he has been adjusting his earnings resulting in less money for the WBC it's easy to see why they would be happy to fiddle the split against him.

No way did he only get 300k for that. He's on the fiddle and the WBC aren't playing.

Well, in the first bout Povetkin had at least something left. But in that 'revenge' meeting Povetkin was shot indeed, taken straightly out of the covid hospital.

Sad thing is… it will sell on PPV here as Fury is now seen as more of a golden boy that Joshua. Casuals will see Ruiz as just the man who chopped down the Gold medal.
They won’t know Parker beat him. And won’t care.

He wont. Arbitration doesn't take place until March. Whyte is going to have to realise, Saudi and American money with a Mexican is a lot bigger than Hearn telling everyone it's an O2 fight.

I didn’t think it was his choice. The WBC have ordered it so if he wants 20% then it’s purse bids. If not, he accepts the offer or he moves on.

Not got long to wait now to find out but strange for Tyson to be looking at Ruiz whilst it’s going on.
