Conlan wants a rematch, and Wood would be mad to offer it to him.
I doubt he could pull that off twice in a row.
Conlan is obviously the superior boxer, and had what it takes to sit Wood on his backside.
Leigh should move on. Great first defence, but maybe a soft one up next
No way you give an immediate rematch on that. especial with conlans tallent. Go try get a real belt vs warrington/kiko winner, thats the fight. Then if you win that who knows.. id have an eye on 130 too, he seems solid.
Let conlan get a few good wins back, a rank or a belt of some kind or somthing..., wait till you take a loss, then offer the rematch.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing but I strongly fancy Conlan to win if he'd never got involved in they later rounds

I wouldn’t begrudge him a soft one but I don’t think he or Eddie will be keen for a soft one.
The Conlan rematch would be interesting as I think both would be confident with it.
I really hope Wood gets upgraded to the proper WBA champ. He deserves it and LSC doesn’t given he hasn’t made the weight in several years.
I’d like to see Wood against the winner of Warrington/Martinez or Lara next. The Lara fight would be insane.

That was a heck of a first defence, I'm happy if Wood takes a rest or a softer opponent.
Maybe regroup later in the year, he took a heck of a beating, and the cuts.
Agree- Conlan, he can work his way into a mandatory for a proper belt once he is cleared. He is a box office draw in Ireland or New York State. I'm sure this is just a blip. He really showed some skill when up against a very determined guy.

Agree with these, some good fights for Wood. He should move on, Conlan can work his way back. There could be room for a rematch down the line but Wood will probably need to pull off 1 or 2 upsets along the way.

You can have all the fancy talent in the world but ultimately boxing is about the toughest man still standing.
Wood could take what Conlan had to give but Conlan couldn't take what Wood had.
Great fight.

Insane fight, I was worried for Wood in the 11th round, he was taking some inhuman shots & you could see his body shaking & shuddering, he shouldn’t have been still standing, but he was just throwing himself through it all and I’m thinking this is the type of fight where people can get seriously hurt …then that finish

Unbelievable, I bloody missed this, even tho I’ve got DAZN, what a dick. For some reason I wasn’t at all excited about the matchup.
I listened to the radio coverage whilst I was pottering round this morning, I’ll catch up with the fight later but the radio coverage did make it sound like Wood was gradually getting through to Conlan more as the night went on even if Conlan was still landing loads himself. Big Ron on top form on the commentary

Strangely I think it may be closer if a rematch happened. I had Conlan winning 7 out of the first 9 rounds as I prefer clean quality shots and volume landed to pushing forwards, throwing and missing or landing poorer quality shots. Some of the bodywork and head movement by Conlan was glorious. After rnd 9 Wood came on and I gave him all rounds from that point to the KO... this was due to Wood having a superior engine as Conlan tired remarkably. I think now Wood knows he can handle Conlan's shots, may give him more confidence whilst Conlan will defo be more wary of Wood's power. Also question marks on Conlan's engine? Will that play on his mind and reduce his early workrate which made his so effective early on?
Ps...just want to add, what a lovely kid Wood is, acted with respect and maturity after the win. Conor Benn, maybe you should take a leaf out of his book?

Honestly, the mans an idiot, is there another sport that would put up with such eccentric daft & shambolic commentary ? At least Sid off the darts had a great sense of humour, and Ron ain’t even got that ..

That really was a tremendous right hand.
Conlan sank into the ropes and turned his head in to the punch.
The right hand actually caught Conlan’s right temple.
Lights out.
Lara v Wood next.
Cmon do it.

Yes pure class from Leigh, I’d heard he was a great kid & you could see that in his interview, more concerned about MC than anything else, a shining light in a sport full of psychopaths & narcissists (hello Ben

)
MC went down the same way Benn did in the first round of the G man fight
Not sure either will be the same again after that dark journey to hell and back. I’m in awe.

I do actually like Ron McIntosh, MightyWarrior, but the "clock face" stuff was bizarre and not particularly helpful.
Nice try Ron, but let's not go with that again...ever

Rewatched. Did Conlan lack the experience he needed to control the fight and keep something in the tank?
He often put a lot into the rounds he was winning.
I also think Wood's work was being overlooked because Conlan would dodge 3 of the 5 shots in a cluster, but many were still getting through.

Tony is saying all this because he backed conlan. Conlan was hurt at the end of round 9 or 10 and was on wobbly legs going back to the corner he also got hurt during round 11 so for Tony to say he didn't get hurt all night is a bit of a porky pie.

If a fighter gets hit and slips then it's a legitimate KD. Even if hes not hurt.

Oh come on Tony, Wood has good power but the most dangerous man in the division is obviously Lara. Lara would take Wood's head clean off of his shoulders, look how hurt Conlan had Wood and Conlan is not a puncher at all.
I'm still buzzing from last night, this is why we put up with all the bs in the sport because every now and then you see a special fight like last night.

Shocking how easily Davidson's fighters get caught with straight backhand shots. Wood took far too many clean last night, as did Josh Taylor.
What a fight though. I'd like to see a rematch

Listen Bellend, don't premise what your about to say in your Tweet with "taking nothing away from Wood"....then proceed to do just that.
Wood won the fight fair and square.
