.. you just doing your Trolling for your own amusement now Mick.

*You bit too obvious
No, I really believe that. He might take a bit longer to catch up with the gunshy version he actually created but he would get to him.
No you don't Mick - you just being silly :OhYes:

Fat Andy got lucky once .. the gun shy AJ who only able to box by numbers was still able to easily outboxed him in the rematch.

*Fury fans are as risk averse as Tyson Fury nowadays it seems :verysad:
I think Counter-Puncher put it much better than I could the other day about how lucky Ruiz got that night.

Nothing says 'luck' more than a perfectly executed tuck and roll and counter left hook. I mean, you'd almost think it was a skill he practised, from the way he executed it, though some people obviously know better.

The important fact is that a gun shy AJ who gets critisized for his boxing ability, was able to easily outbox Fat Andy in the rematch.
That Fat Andy has never before, and never since, put in such a good display/result says it all really .. Fat Andy got lucky and it makes no difference what other AJ haters may write.

ruiz is sure good with that move, but keep it long and measured and it gets taken away from him, as we saw in their rematch, as we've seen in other ruiz fights. i'd say there is certainly a degree of luck in your opponent making an obvious mistake that plays right into your strengths and allows you to apply your best move, but that move itself isnt luck

'fit' ruiz was even worse when he fought arreola btw, losing weight doesnt lengthen his arms , take away his plodding slow feet, or give him a work rate. his punch resistance looked by far the worse it ever has actually

In a way it's comparable to the Leonard-Duran fights. Both Leonard and AJ couldn't outfight Duran/Ruiz. So they put their track shoes on in the rematch to box and move without exchanging too much.

And Ruiz and Duran were too busy partying to properly prepare for the rematches.

The 'ifs & but' and 'what ifs' are meaningless really.
A boxers overall makeup is what gets him his results.

Dennis Andries wasn't the most skillful but he brought his other attributes such as toughness, determination and fitness to get results.
As someone mentioned earlier regarding what Eubank referred to as the 'warriors code' to keep getting up and swinging until you physically cannot is part of that.

It was claimed that 'a fit Ruiz beats AJ 9 out of 10 times'. That's just silly .. he loses to AJ 9 out of 10 because he can't keep himself in shape, and his strengths are easily nullified by keeping it long as even the gun shy AJ was able to do.

Our Mick being blinded by his hatred for anything AJ here it seems.

It's my opinion. I don't hate AJ, I just see him for what he is. I was watching something the other day where it was said he could have done with a few fights like the Franklin one on the way up but that wouldn't have fitted in with the image they were creating as some unstoppable monster, now AJ is giving interviews saying he is more of a boxer than a fighter... So not only did Andy ruin the aggressive AJ, but by being so unfit in the rematch he has let AJ believe he is some sort of master boxer, hence him getting schooled twice since.

Nice post very good points on the overall makeup of a boxer!

Guess boxing is kind of like life you only really find out what you're made of when you're back is against wall or "you're on the ropes"

As for the it's 'easy as long as you keep it long'. How come he's only lost two then? He is nearly always the smaller man and has fought many much bigger world ranked boxers who 'keep it long'. If it's that easy, why is he so successful?

Doesn't that sort of contradict the second half of the post? In Ruiz 1. AJ found his back against the wall and quit.

Not sure I understand your point mate.
We found out what many had suspected that AJ has fragilities both mentally and physically when his back is against the wall in that fight.

He adjusted his style knowing he had these frailties.

The heavyweight division for last few years has been very poor as most people agree. So it's understandable to see Ruiz fight record is very scarce on quality .. a couple of ancient old warriors .. and a loss against Parker.

As stated earlier. Ruiz was lucky to beat AJ .. the stars aligned for him that night; he had his 1 time out of 10 success against AJ.

If he was fit .. if he was more dedicated .. if he was 4" taller .. if he could throw combinations like a young Mike Tyson .. if and buts are meaningless.

His cons outweigh his pros.
