There's a saying..... if you don't know the answer to the question, the answer is almost certainly money.gilgamesh wrote: ↑05 Oct 2023, 13:56I would think this fight would be a big sell in the U.K. or America as well. I don't see why the Saudi's are needed for every big Heavyweight fight.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑05 Oct 2023, 13:54 Talk of it being pushed to first quarter of next year now, this isn't happening without that Saudi money.
A wiser man than me once said, the more people involved, the harder the fight is to make. You've got promoters, managers, advisors, layers, accountants, wives, trainers, friends, family and outside influences. All of those people will have an opinion on how much or what percentage their boxer should earn.
Then you've got two different TV/streaming outlets to argue about. Will the location be suitable for both guys, will it bring in enough money and is it available.
Personally, I think January would be a bad idea financially. A lot of people will be feeling the financial pinch after Christmas (Hanukkah for some
Saudi money meant that all of those things weren't a problem, but now that's not there, it's a different story. This ain't an easy fight to make.
