This is my own account. As I said before, I came to this website for years before I ever posted in the forum. Poring over the records of all the great active and inactive fighters, I really care if you all are too big of snobs to watch the fight. It's the warmup for the fight that we have wanted, what's wrong with that? Don't answer because I don't care.

Now you are just making that up because he said specifically that Chisora was not a warmup for Usyk. He retired twice last year in April and August and honestly doesn't owe anything to you or anyone else. He could say I'm just going to fight Ngannou and retire and this fight is for my fans.

Is that ‘fans’ who aren’t hardcore boxing fans? Social media noobs and the like? I think anyone here in their mid to late 40’s like me, who perhaps enjoyed the Mike Tyson/Frank Bruno, Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis years as being generally exciting, competitive, interesting, inspiring, etc, have then kind of grimaced and lost interest a bit with the long-winded and uninspiring Wlad era. Then enjoyed the brief Olympics to early career perk-up with Joshua, who looked big and dangerous at first. Tyson Fury has kind of slipped in there at the end as clearly underrated/under the radar, but then immediately squandered pretty much all of the goodwill. The heavyweight division seems totally dire apart from Usyk and oddly Zhang, if he can actually get any match ups.

I don't consider myself a fan of Fury mostly because he hasn't been eager to fight Usyk but maybe the fight had to 'marinate' sufficiently so the largest number of eyeballs would be on it when it happens. Hopefully it will be a good fight. I appreciated the Klitschkos but Fury and Joshua had to do more than beat Wlad to claim the era. Joshua did blow it by losing three times and he still hasn't faced Wilder or Fury which is kind of embarrassing if he never does.
What would be funny is if Fury Ngannou is exciting, and Fury Usyk uneventful.

They are two non-punchers really in proper world heavyweight terms, although perhaps not these in these diluted times?! Usyk v Fury could end up being the spit of Akinwande v Zolkin, and nobody enjoyed that one!

He did find a bit more power in the run up to Lewis too. Certainly more power than Fury. I was checking Akinwande's record today, and wondering when he was left adrift in Europe effectively at the tail end, why perhaps Tyson didn't fancy trying to revenge. But Akinwande retired in 2008, the same year Fury began. So for revenge Akinwande would have needed to have been brought out of retirement. Probably even then he'd have been deemed too high risk for too little reward I'm sure.

He probably would have beaten a fair few of the more popular fighters of that era, Mercer and Morrison spring to mind, but too much of a risk with little reward for them.

Had Lewis touch down briefly as well from a right hand.

The Scot Welsh one was a stinker too. But I’m terms of ability he would have probably massacred Herbie Hide. Hide certainly got too many good opportunities and Akinwande too few!

Akinwande, really bizarre career. Does anyone know what he us up to these days? Just re-read his career on Boxrec. Beat Jonny Nelson and had the WBO title when it was an IBOish/made up for FW belt.
Was a good amateur and good pro career though, and could clearly bank as had 40 stoppages.
He is someone I have never heard of being interviewed though - welcome anyone's insight into this?

Off the top of my head I think he moved to Africa and never looked back. Was it Ghana? Presumably the money he earned supports a comfortable retirement there. He was a little guilty of having horrible mauling fights and never got a lot of love. He became a much better fighter in the states. The McCall fight was the final nail, when well ahead on points he hit the canvas for I think the only time in his career.
