Just watched a bit of Garcia vs Duarte, who probably has the closest style to Benn out of Garcia’s opponents. I thought Garcia won every round pretty comfortably and showed a few different things too.

Ryan moved a lot in the later rounds, probably because he realized Duarte can’t move and punch at the same time, which is similar to Benn. His lateral movement was good, he very rarely got trapped and his shell defense actually isn’t that bad. Although that probably depends on the ref and how he handles the punches to the back that are likely to happen because of it.

Garcia also threw some very sharp uppercuts while Duarte was stalking him, especially early in the fight. And I think Duarte had a much tighter guard in that fight than Benn has ever shown.

You know what? I reckon I'm gonna pick Conor in this one.

Both are obnoxious, entitled egotistical little tossers, but sometimes I look at Ryan with his shades off and I've seen cats with more intelligence behind the eyes. I didn't particularly follow his early career but from what I've seen of him in he blows hot and cold, has poor discipline, coming into fights overweight and making very little effort to hit his contracted weight. He's also been stopped before (albeit by a very hard puncher).

Like Benn, his best performances have likely been him all juiced up. I wonder what the testing is for this?

Conor, as ordinary as he is, IS very disciplined and is more than happy to cheat. Yeah, he hasn't looked good since he's been off the eggs, but I'm pretty confident with all of this new money and promotion behind him he's be being encouraged to shovel platefuls of Ostarine omelettes for breakfast alongside all the other brand spanking new up-to-date PEDS that are making their way out of clandestine Chinese labs everyday. Just because he looked dogshit against the much smaller and inured Prograis last time out, it doesn't mean he can't improve and for this cut to be an improvement on the last?

As Coneye (I think) pointed out, maybe these social media post of skeletal walking dead Benn in his swimming drunks doing the rounds some are sort of 'mind games' bollocks on Team Benn's end. I really don't know how AI works, but couldn't you get some photos of Benn and then prompt your phone to 'make him even thinner! Now, make his legs look as skinny as possible!" and then leak the resultant images to the media?

I can't help but find all of this talk of moving straight up to 160 or 168 after this a little reminiscent of Haye going on about struggling to make cruiserweight all those years ago while trying to get the unification with Enzo Maccarinelli and telling everyone that he would be leaping to HW after. It's not like these things haven't been done before.

Like I said, Ryan seems to struggle with discipline and I can imagine him watching Benn struggling with Prograis and Benn looking terrible making the weight, is gonna jump up weight classes straight after etc, and totally biting on everything, thinking that he doesn't need to train as hard as he has done for his genuinely elite opponents. Benn on the other hand will be training his nuts off as he always has done. Posh boy son of a very hard working class Dad, and all that: plenty to prove.

I've no idea if that's a good prediction or not, but sod it: the board seems fairly unanimous in picking Garcia, so I'll be the hipster backing Connor Benn

I'm not sure KingRy is overrated ?

He doesn't take his career properly seriously, but/if/when he does, he's got a good resume and some of the fastest hands in boxing. His wins over Barrios, Campbell and Duarte are suely way ahead of what Benn could achieve post PEDs.

1 - Surely Benn's so irritating that KingRy will take this seriously.
2-A big chance Benn isn't right at all @ 147.

So you got the better boxer, with more speed, more power, deeper resume at home, vs a guy who's best attributes are likely compromised.

If Benn does get outclassed, outspeeded, outeverythinged tonight, I’m not even sure he’d have the appetite to try to reinvent himself seriously as a middleweight.

Garcia could turn out to be his last fight if it goes as badly as many believe it will, unless a rubber match with Eubank Jr can realistically sell as a novelty fight.

I never liked Benn Snr and he was an absolute knob that night.

This doesn't show the full thing he did and I can't find it in full. But he is roid raging at Chris who isn't recovering and in a bad way and Connor and his dad are just acting like animals. Just very poor form, I don't care who you are. He definitely was on something so cheating inhuman arsehole is probably a close description.
Chris Algieri is one of the nicest, most intelligent guys in boxing. Connor Benn isn't

Yeah obviously a bit twattish. Although I was probably more offended when the Benn’s posted that celebratory clip after Eubank Jr got stopped by Liam Smith’s elbow.

But then I desperately wanted Eubank Jr to beat Benn.

IT SURELY DOES , Grrrrr , it was one off the best or worst (whichever way you look at it ) examples of a BAD WINNER i've ever seen . and i dislike bad winners more so than bad losers , , when coaching i've kicked kids out of the gym because after warnings they would'nt tone down the being a lair after a win , But to see him and his dad dancing around Algeris when he was on the floor , grrrr still gets my goat .

But i never liked the old man either , remember quite well in the day everyone would sing his praises i did;nt always felt he was a talent who dodged the good fighters , i;m still off the opinion a prime RJJ would of destroyed him , a prome Toney would off chewed him up and spat him out . and the apple has not fallen far from the tree

Ryan is a pratt has well he lacks discipline , will say in his earlier days i had BIB BIG RAPS on him , but he sort of has an excuse , he has the talent he shown it ameteur and pro , become a big name and had once again a pratt of a father behind him encouraging him all the way no matter what direction he was going in , where normal kids have rock solid fathers advising good sence and how to handle life and people , this kid had cheer leaders led by his dad , But to be honest i can see on the surface where Cyclops is coming from it does appear to me that Benn has rattled his cage with mind games , and if he was a little bit less talented it could affect the fight in Benns favor .

However i think its made Garcia a bit more focused and determinned to do a number on Benn ,
just hope like i've said before , after Garcia puts him on the floor , heels down eyes up , that garcias idiot dad gets in and they both do a dance around Benn , Hopefully wishful thinking the camera pans to Nigel has well , add flavor top it maybee Algeira can jump in the ring and they can do a congo around Benn on the floor ,

I think there's a common misconception in boxing that bullies can't be brave. Nigel was exceptionally brave, but he was a bully. Predatory.

Not to be confused with on top fighters who thrive on the rhythm of attack and show reluctance if the ref allows a beating.
