Pieterson and Flintoff have only really scored when the top order have misfired..... would be nice to see the top order put on 300-350, then have KP and Flintoff come in and add 150 off between them. Not impossible.... sooner or later the england team will all fire at the same time.

its doing a bit but its a ood toss to win, that and mcgrath being out defintielty an advantage, big pressure on lee and warne in the bowling dept for the aussies now.

I'm sure the Aussies would have loved to have got in first and tried to bang up a big total so great decision by Vaughan to get in first. It was a slow start but they're getting into the groove now! Plus Warne will be far less effective on day 1 & 2 on this pitch.

Not that bad mate, Vaughan looks in good nick. Fair play to him he is coming good after a fair bit of criticism about his batting. Lets hope he can build a big score here like he did at OT.

Seems like a good first day's play, other than the weather. I certainly wasn't doing the rain dance, but was delighted to see the rain come and halt the progress of Vaughn and Trescothic.... things were looking grim there for a while. Good fightback by the Aussies though, Tait's got some real speed and when he gets it right is bloody hard to play. Good to see Ponting get Vaughn too.... hopefully he returns the favour and bowls a couple of pies for Ricky when he's batting.

Without the rain I think England would be cruising by now, but no excuses its our weather after all!

I hope Pietersen and Flintoff can keep their discipline and not give their wickets away. I'm sure that will be drummed into them before they go out today. But if one of them can get a decent ton then we're in a good position. Much as I'd love to see the pair of them cracking it around this is not the time for that!

Weather changes quickly there though it was glorious in that first session yesterday, when they went to an ad break in lunch and came back and it was pissing with rain I was gobsmacked!

Good 50 for Jones. He's responded well to the stick he's taken, I must say. Now for the Flintoff ton.

Also, it was interesting to see the stat earlier that the Flintoff/Jones partnership averages 76. I was quite surprised by that.
