Unlucky mate buckland certainly wanted that KO, I'm amazed the other guy lasted.

Haven't been betting since the World Cup, started back up yesterday. I'm in quite heavy on buckland winning this but Carroll looks a threat

Been absolutely stung tonight. Thought Buckland did enough myself. I had all 4 quarter finals correct going onto Martin Ward.

Has anyone ever done a lump betting with boxing like start with £10 and try and work your way up by lumping on fighters that are like 1/10?

I'm going to give the betting a go after the new year; I'll start with a pot and follow one of the regular tipsters - i'm not too clever with odds etc.

Who would be the best person to follow?

I got to about £600 last year. It doesn't actually take that long and it's easy enough look at most of the fights this weekend.

No but now you mention it i probably should as i've done it with football and tennis before.

Could be a good thread for the new year. Everyone post in about what they are on, progress, gut checks for those who get a big pot built up and want to cash-in etc!

First tip if you're new to boxing. Don't be 'loyal' to a bookie. Use them and abuse all their free bet offers to begin with such as matched first bet up to £50 quid etc. Scout around for prices on oddschecker too

Thanks freddie, I've always had trouble sorting put head and heart, for the years I've watched the sport I can't pick correctly out of 2 men. A shambles really.

Sounds decent of course they are not always 1/10, but like big favourites you can get at like 2/5 and if you keep lumping you can get a decent sum at the end of the year.

When you're lumping on 1/10 you've got to start with a grand though not a tenner

He put all the winnings in the next bet. It was a newspaper story about a year or two ago. Maybe more.

I tried the same, but bottled it after a few bets - left about £200 up. It was just too stressful

I saw it in the paper mate, there's always some lucky fvcker, just like the random bloke that puts a pound on 6 horses and they all win. There's millions that try and fail.

I'm being a bit negative to be fair but it's just because that strategy of betting just doesn't work IMO, just my opinion though hope it works out for anyone who tries it.

Its what you want to get out of it though. I think there's a route to a grand in 30 bets at around 1/6. For me it would be a fun side bet to see how far I can go.

Good point. And after I stopped my betting like this, I thought about starting again with 2 bets; Nadal and Federer I think... Some big favs in tennis. And they both lost...

Like all betting, any bet requires cool thinking and not betting on emotion... Difficult to do sometimes

I think you are right mate I think 50 bets at 1/10 gets you to 1k not sure.

Amir Khan to win at 5/11 is a pretty decent bet, I really don't see him losing, I also like Andy Lee to beat Korobov at 11/4.

Macklin would have done my cash last time out.
