Do you think there's something in their background or upbringing that makes them terrified to engage? Fury/BJS/Lee all talk a good game but look absolutely terrified of getting hit.
It's the hope that kills you.

What has there upbringing got to do with it? Two tactical performances, two great wins. If they fought like Gatti they'd bad thick gypo's. This forum's reaction to Tyson and BJS wins has been disgusting.

Why is everyone taking about GGG like he's the standard you need to get to? He's P4P top 3 so leave him out of the discussion, BJS knows he's not in his league.
He did what he had to do tonight, understandably wary of the power that Lee carries so he wasn't going to take many chances. To box his way to a points win over a world class fighter without ever really committing on the front foot shows how good he is. Winning this will make him a much better fighter just through the confidence it gives him and as he makes more defences he'll grow into a superb fighter over the years, easy to forget he's still only 26, as long as he lives the life between fights, something I think has now sunk in, he'll be around for a long time to come.
You're right about Golovkin too, I can understand people wanting the fight because they're in the same division and Golovkin wants all the belts, but he's just won his first world title, he doesn't need to start stepping up to P4P level yet, let him establish himself at world level with some solid defences first, then start talking about fights like that. Golovkin and Alvarez are having another fight each then getting in the ring with each other next year. I think the winner of that will move up, especially if it's Golovkin, but if they don't then that's the sort of fight Billy Joe should be looking towards sometime in 2017 once he's put some money in the bank.
People seem to think that just because it wasn't an exciting fight they must be shite, it was an intelligent fight from BJS, he knows what Lee can do when Quillin put him down Lee can recover quickly and put you to sleep if your not careful, maybe he could of gone up a gear but he will have learnt massively from that tonight. Last week Eubank jr was getting caught often by Spike and showed his poor footwork and defence but because the fight was exciting and Spike quit People think Eubank is better then BJS now, ridiculous if you ask me.

Lee looked very fragile early on and BJS power is very average at best. The lack of engaging from the 3rd on cost Lee the fight and could of cost BJS too.
Strange fight. Seen much better from both and they need to move on. Fcuk knows who BJS fights next though?

what was Lee waiting for in that fight...fair enough it was a close one that was tough to score, but with those knockdowns he was always likely to be behind...
when he came forward in the 12th throwing the body shots it seemed like he was able to get on top...
full credit to BJS - so easy to get behind someone that does the british title route, defended it against ryder and eubank in 2 great scraps - fair fucks and i wish many more did the same

I'd put money on Kerry Hope or someone of that standard in the WBO top 15 followed by the Eubank rematch

I didn't mind the main event, lots of feinting and some absolute quality footwork from bjs. Didn't score it but felt that bjs won it by 1-2 but was very close to throwing a decent lead away. Love watching Liam Smith fight he just seems to love hurting people and being spiteful, doesn't have that 1 punch power but seems to grind people down and he just looks like he enjoys every minute of it. Not proven at world level yet for me tho. Glad Mitchell lost, seemed to believe his own hype. Williams looked devastating and look forward to seeing him move up the levels. All in all a decent night of boxing.
Couple of things to add, the scoring seemed very decent tonight and felt results were all fair. Also Steve Gray is a very good ref.

I wonder why Lee wasn't throwing body punches? Booth told him repeatedly to do so, would have been perfect tactics against someone with suspect stamina like Saunders (who's also always looked fragile to the body imo).

Poor fight. Very little action and was disappointed in both of them.
I would like to see a BJS v Eubank rematch though.

I was shouting that at the TV from round two. I think BJS nullified his attack to some extent, although that's what separates good boxers from great boxers. Great boxers find a way to unlock the puzzle and land the punches they want.

cant believe the abuse on here for bjs. 22 fights,a paper world title, and he continues to look better and better. i still feel that there is a lot of improvement left. at times bjs looks phenomenal, his punch picking and counters were every bit as good as mayweather. if he puts in mayweather levels of work in training bjs could go on and become a british atg. lee was a big punching , intelligent , experienced middleweight with all the physical advantages , but saunders skills and beard made him look a bit toothless.

As you know, I've got mates who are travellers and I would never call anyone a 'thick gypo' and I'm disappointed you would even suggest that. I do think you use positive discrimination regarding gypsies.

No, he's one of the most technically limited fighters to ever hold a title, he's got a big punch and that's all
Correct.

Not at all. I remember Frank Bruno getting an open top bus round London and being on every chat show going for weeks after beating Oliver f*cking McCall in his home town. Tyson did the unthinkable, and the hatred has got worse!

To be fair, Bruno had been a very high profile boxer for years and had come up short in massively hypwd fights for the title. His persona had been manipulated to maximise his popularity and he had come through the ranks when boxing was on terrestrial television. Many more people knew who Bruno was and bought into his marketing. Fury, for all his skills and beating a long term champion is a divisive figure, some of it may be down to anti traveller feeling but an awful lot lays at his floor. He acts on his moods and says whatever's in his head, if he's going to do that then he's got to understand that for everyone who likes it there are 2 that don't.

From my experience I never heard anyone slag Fury for being a traveller (personally)... And certainly not in the media! The right on media wouldn't dare criticise a minority. They criticised for perceived 'homophobic' comments and weirdly I even read a few accusing him of racism; though they provided no actual evidence of this?! It was all very bizarre.
Fury is being crucified by the media, not because he's a traveller, but because he's outspoken and isn't towing the right on line, which everyone in the public eye must do otherwise they get ostracised and attacked.
Politicians / media / power brokers seem to want to turn everyone into a nation of robots who repeat the same opinions without thought or analysis. Otherwise you get ostracised.
I'm exaggerating a bit but the PC west is becoming like a Diet North Korea...

It's all about individual popularity and let's not forget, it was Bruno's people that paid for it. Bruno was wildly popular and with all due respect, Fury isn't. Bruno fought on BBC, came across as a genuinely nice guy and appealed to non boxing fans. Fury polarizes people, I like the dude, although I don't agree with some of his views. but I know plenty of people that think he's a bell end. Of course a small minority of small minded people will dislike him because he is a gypsy, in the same way a small minority don't like Bruno because he's black.
Who do you blame for Fury's lack of an open top bus? Hennessy?
