Round-by-Round: Kid Galahad vs. Jazza Dickens - 7 August 2021
Re: Round-by-Round: Kid Galahad vs. Jazza Dickens - 7 August 2021
I don’t know a single person who subscribes to DAZN. Surely they must have a big plan up their sleeve to coincide with the price increase?

Big plan is to wait and hope people dont notice when they up the price.... get people on 2 quid a month, keep it going for a few months, people gradualy forget about it, up it to 10 a month, Fans keep it, casuals on the ball unsubscribe, Casuals not paying attention pay for 2 year befor relising they have dropped 250 quid on a streaming servis they never use.
Re: Round-by-Round: Kid Galahad vs. Jazza Dickens - 7 August 2021
Despite getting home well in time to stream this, pissed, I didn't even bother watching it for free, let alone subscribe to DAZN. Don't care who won.
I love boxing, otherwise I wouldn't post on here. But this didn't tickle my pickle in the slightest.
They're just midgets aren't they? I could grab hold of either one and squeeze him until his ribcage cracked.
Not interested.

Was 3 heavyweight fights on the card to be fair.Cyclops wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 20:09 Despite getting home well in time to stream this, pissed, I didn't even bother watching it for free, let alone subscribe to DAZN. Don't care who won.

They only have 1 show per month September and October.
Can't see how a price increase is realistic. There is zero other content. Unless they have the Serie A rights I'm unsure why price would increase. Even the Canelo fight is off.
Re: Round-by-Round: Kid Galahad vs. Jazza Dickens - 7 August 2021
I didn't know that. To be fair, I've become much more of a 'casual' since COVID-19. I went to the Joyce-Takam fight and got upgraded to ringside, but even then it still felt uncomfortable in a weird way and I didn't even try and get tickets for AJ-Usyk although I'd love to see them both live: I'd rather just stay in and watch the fights these days, unless it's Joyce who I'm a cheerleader for or the mythical AJ-Fury fight, which I'll pay through the nose for.gregregegg wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 21:12Was 3 heavyweight fights on the card to be fair.Cyclops wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 20:09 Despite getting home well in time to stream this, pissed, I didn't even bother watching it for free, let alone subscribe to DAZN. You missed the fact that you are a big lad that can crush smaller guys ribcages after you had a few beers. Congratulations boxing fan.Cyclops wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 21:30I didn't know that. good on ya fella..... you are passionate like Ben
BTW the 'Kid' had all the tools that are pure boxing quick feet and hands against a top strong quality fighter..... good contest.....doubt 'Kid' will be elite but boxing is deep.

Re: Round-by-Round: Kid Galahad vs. Jazza Dickens - 7 August 2021
Galahad was very good last night. Great work rate which very likely added to the lack of spite in the punches; it would have been nice to have seen him slip in the occasional heavy punch, and he did get caught by some eye catching punches which seemed to influence things more than they should have .. was it the 7th round Dickens landed a nice 3 punch combo? That's just about all he landed in that round, but Lee gave him the round. I only had Dickens sharing 2 or 3 rounds. Very brave man.
Again, the quality of the show was very weak. Laura is very pretty .. and that's about it; not sure what else she is there for? The amount of times she has her hands in her pockets I think emphasises that she too not got much idea what her actual role is .. basically a talked round card girl is my guess.
Quite bizarre the Bellend & Dillian section .. like a amphetamine induced psychotic episode .. slumped in chairs .. speaking a mystery language .. and one of them wearing a bucket hat made out of an OAPs swimming costume.

I agree Bellew was often biased when he was on Sky. He wasn’t biased last night and I’m sure he knew there’d be people wanting to jump on him if he showed any favouritism.peter barlow wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 18:24 Ade Oladipo could present it, hes already doing the boxing show. Tbh I don't like listening to Bellew, so I wont be listening to the analysis or Dazn boxing show.
Just because hes friends with Hearn hes the main pundit. Theres any number of other pundits they could have used.
He was fine last night. Offered decent insight.

Yeah - I don’t disagree. 6 fights was on the short side. Another one or two and using one as a float would help. Saying that I thought they filled the gaps well and as I said previously they don’t have the benefit of going to 4 minutes of ads to waste time.BigEars wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 18:36maverick23 wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 17:56 I didn’t see last week’s show but I’ve enjoyed tonight’s show. The main event was good quality and the Babic fight was really fun, as was the 1 round Wardley fight. I also liked the Fiaz fight on YouTube.
Re: production I thought everyone did well except I thought Andy Lee was a bit too quiet.
Jama was fine, Bellew/Warrington both pretty good. Chris Lloyd is a very good commentator I think with loads of potential. Darren Barker needs to improve - I’ve always liked him as a bloke though. Laura Woods is very good. Also I liked the fact they roped Joyce and Dillian in too.
It’s good how few adverts they had and whilst it isn’t radically different from Sky I thought production/content wise it was very good and ran very smoothly. It’s not easy doing 4 hours of live TV without many adverts.
A good idea might be to have more floater bouts available to put on between some of the main fights if we do get an early stoppage.
Some of the gaps between the fights just felt very long, with a lot of forced analysis and chat to keep things going.
Would be much easier just to have an up and comer in the ring in a 4 or 6 rounder instead.
Or even throw in area level guys (or just below) in 6 rounders in competitive fights with each other, with the promise they'll be shown on the feed at some point (after the main event if need be).

He fought like a manpeter barlow wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 16:28 Problem with that stoppage is we just had Mark Bennett take a million punches in the fight before where he had no hope of winning.
But Webb took a fair few flush shots and did not throw back. Should have had a count imo
Spoke to Bennett this morning, he's fine just gutted and realises that 2 years out of the ring didn't help matters.

They’ve timed it poorly with it coinciding with the Olympics. They still need a linear TV partner to promote the fights.
I know a few casuals that have subscribed but they did it for the Canelo/BJS show - not these U.K. ones.

By the sound of things you’d have liked the 3 heavyweight fights on before the main event.Cyclops wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 20:09 Despite getting home well in time to stream this, pissed, I didn't even bother watching it for free, let alone subscribe to DAZN. Don't care who won.

There will be more shows than one a month in September and October - they may not be in the U.K. though.peter barlow wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 21:29They only have 1 show per month September and October.

Next week we’ve got the Buatsi card and also the Golden Boy show with a really strong main event.

It did show , he was blowing 30 seconds in , inactivity is probably worst for heavies as they don't have to look after their weight and diet , Brave , brave fella but hoped for more from him .MasterG wrote: ↑08 Aug 2021, 03:55peter barlow wrote: ↑07 Aug 2021, 17:43He did but he took too much punishment, I hope he is okay and been checked on.

most likely yes, there just isn't the fan base anymore, people who tune in to watch anyone other than Joshua and very limited, even hardcore fans won't subscribe anymore, well not enough to make these things work.
