Surely Chris has to be done with Roy and middleweight if he is to carry on. Heffron next for the British and see how he looks.
Re: Round-by-Round: Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Liam Smith - 21 January 2023
Thought Liam points, repeatedly said to everyone in my gym that there was no way it ends early either way. Happy to be proven wrong.
I knew Liam would stay tight and have a good look early on, thought he would come on strong down the stretch, wait for mistakes. Roy Jones has damaged CEJ and that’s why he made the mistakes much earlier than I thought. Hopefully Liam gets a world shot again next. GGG v Beefy this year would be incredible

Does anyone else think it looked like Smith followed through with his elbow when Eubank was in the corner for the first knockdown? Might explain the huge lump that came up on his eye. Only noticed it watching the slo-mo of it

I think there'll be an immediate rematch. Liam Smith will get a bigger slice of the pie, Eubank gets a chance at redemption. I can't see any reason why it doesn't happen.Dioufy wrote: ↑22 Jan 2023, 12:15Fair play for paying my man. Appreciated.

Eubank - I didn't train properly, it was a once in a lifetime shot etc.
Smith - If he wants another hiding, I'm the man to give him it.
Re: Round-by-Round: Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Liam Smith - 21 January 2023
I have to disagree - he has bean beaten twice before when stepping up to the top ish level and since then done zilch unless you include posing and calling out beltholders like GGG .Coco wrote: ↑22 Jan 2023, 08:38Let's put things in perspective, it's about levels, and Jnr is still a good fighter.stevec@france wrote: ↑22 Jan 2023, 07:56jr is all about ego and arrogance - cant box and has never had the power to bother any of the top boys anyway .
No doubt all the physchophants who think the sun shines out of his ass will just move onto another fake tosser to worship.
Now been blasted by Smith who is not considered either concussive or elite , his career is in tatters according to numerous trainers and coaches and I have to agree with them .
He is likely to try and get the rematch obviously as he is now way down any pecking order for other big money fights .

Eubank Jr has always been British / Euro level. Despite his big talk, I think he’s always known it himself really, which is why he’s never made a serious attempt at challenging world level.

Slow motion shows it. The barrage was quite fast and the camera angle was the worst.

Very surprised to see Smith stop him.
Was it the speed as much as the weight that got Eubank? It's the punches you don't see etc ..
That's what I expected Liam Williams to have done to Eubank.
Chuffed for Smith - despite a solid record, he is still a very underrated fighter.
Nope, but I am following his "thruple" story with interest.
And no way did I expect a stoppage, but in hindsight Beefy has stopped his last four opponents - I just never expected him to stop Eubank.
I bet on Beefy to win because Eubank has had carefully picked guys who never really put it on him, and his workload has been low. I knew Beefy would get in close and go to work, it's what he does, nothing flashy, just grind it out.
This lead me to think Smith could outpoint the second coming of RJJ
My main concern was Smith getting a British decision against him as Eubank was thw A side and had lucrative options after the fight with the egg man.
Re: Round-by-Round: Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Liam Smith - 21 January 2023
He might actually be below British level, because the three guys who have beaten him have all been BritishBoxerbeetle wrote: ↑22 Jan 2023, 14:09 Eubank Jr has always been British / Euro level. Re: Round-by-Round: Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Liam Smith - 21 January 2023
The rematch reasoning - I will win a rematch because I was winning this one - reminds me of George Groves vrs Froch.
Eubank will not be the same in a rematch.
Chris Jnr finally has to accept that he is not his Dad. He inherited a lot of the talent but not quite the whole package.

Smith said he’d be open to the rematch.
A few conditions.
Liverpool, more money, and possible 157 catchweight.
Ok to the first 2, but as it shows, CEJ should even be making 160 at this rate, never mind 157.

If Eubank wants it then Smith is contractually obliged to a rematch, altrhough there seems some vagueness around the weight.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑22 Jan 2023, 19:47 Smith said he’d be open to the rematch.

Def an elbow there. Could easily have been that caused the swell and Eubank has always had a good chin.

Assuming Eubank fights on it’ll be interesting to see how he acts before future bouts, I wonder if he will drop the smug “I don’t have to try too hard” routine
