RAPID,

Your post has put collins in a state of agony.

Those who genuflect at the Shrine of Ali, like clueless collins,
demand a ONE-WAY communication when it comes to the worshipping the media-created fraud upon which their Religion of Ali is based.

Yeah, but at least crankberries stories aren't meant to be taken literally. They are just therapy. Whereas this clown appears to genuinely believe this 'nonsence'.

Ok...I'll take a guess here. The third round of the Ellis-Ali fight was when Big George first got the idea of his now famous "George Foreman Grill". He witnessed the awful human grilling taking place before his eyes and said to himself "Perhaps this power of grilling can be used to benefit the average citizen rather than to destroy lives"!

And Voila! Many years later he acted upon this urge and now we all have benefited from the moment.

Sort of like the Space program and teflon story.

Well then at least tell us what DID happen during that round...Or do I really have to go into the attic and have someone take my 8mm version and turn it into a DVD in order find out?

Why bother? It will be something that only Crankberry can see.

You already know what really happened. Ali gave him a boxing lesson and made another good fighter look ordinary. No doubt this would have been another Ali fight where Crankberry had to rock up to work the next day and explain why his prediction was once again completely wrong. He's been looking for excuses ever since, no doubt.

The Ali haters cannot be reasoned with any more than any other conspiracy theorist can be reasoned with. Basically they are nutcases and usually, as in the case of Crankberry, very bitter that no one takes them seriously.

Believe me, RAPID, I waste a MINIMUM amount of time.

Why don't you ask the two Ali shills who work in tandem here

to whine and complain about your SPOT ON comment that their hero was

"Allowed to constantly grab and hook his opponentsbehind the head... round after round... without points being deducted. "

The Ali shills are blind as bats and clueless since their Thomas Hausers and Bert Sugars won't allow them to know what happened in the third round of the Ali-Terrell fight.

What a pathetic crew.

This thread is testimony to the cluelessness of the members of the Religion of Ali.

You know granberry I had been asking this question for quite some time before you finally came up with the "third round mystery". Is the third round that is available edited somehow? I KNOW that my 8mm version is virgin and unedited so if there is mystery I suppose I can dig it up and find it IF the cellulose is still of good integrity.

granberry if an event took place besides the alleged thumbing why are you so mysterious about it? Just tell us and we can decide for ourselves if it is a credible claim. Like you say if we are brainwashed then it's hopeless anyway. But on the chance that we are open minded it would make a good discussion.

I can tell you that no one in the crowd walked out that night believing that they had witnessed anything more or less than a good old fashioned one sided thrashing.

Well some of the old champs could not understand why Ali did/could not put him away....I'm sure you'll say that it's because he did not have the ability....the Ali worshippers say that it was because Ali just didn't have it in him. Some say it's because he just wanted him to be awake and in pain. You sort of have to watch the fight and decide for yourself I guess.

It appears on the surface that it is a very one sided affair. I'd still like to know the secret of the third round that I or PFP simply do not have the ability to discover on our own. If no other reason than that I may gain in character and humility knowledge and thus wisdom.

Dingleberry is a lot more stuck on Ali than any Ali fan. I could write a list of Ali's faults that would be five hundred times more legitimate than granberry's talking points. You can point out flaws in any fighter, doesn't take much of a boxing mind to do that. The fact is all fighters had faults, but few have the hardcore critics that Ali has. If you looked hard enough and twisted things enough you could come up with a long list of Robinson and Louis' or Dempsey and Tunney's or Duran and Chavez's or Leonard and Hagler's faults. That wouldn't change the fact that they are some of the greatest of all time. Same with Ali.

Its like Mayweather today. Some either go too far and try to make him into a top 10 all time great, some make him out to be some sort of ordinary fighter, when he's clearly not at either extreme. Ali is not the greatest fighter of all time or the greatest athlete of all time, as some would make him out to be, but he's hardly some sort of media creation as dingleberry claims him to be. I rank him the greatest Heavyweight, top five pound for pound, but I think Robinson and Armstrong and Pep and maybe a couple of others are clearly ahead of him. I wouldn't even say that Ali is miles ahead of Joe Louis, though I think he's clearly the better of the two.

I suppose my point is that it would be nice if there could be some moderation in Ali discussions. But, please, spare me the Doug Jones and Henry Cooper nonsense, or the idea that Ali only beat Terrell and Patterson because of their injuries. These notions are simply figments of the imaginations of the Ali haters. As for dingleberry, I think he's made it quite clear in past posts that his dislike of Ali is more personal than it is boxing related; he hates Ali because he's a liberal Mohammedan who wouldn't go to Vietnam. Which is fine. But don't claim that your criticisms of Ali have to do with boxing; they clearly don't. Granberry would probably hate Ali if Ali were chemist or a stenographer. I'm sure some of his criticisms of Ali's boxing style are legitimate, but the vast majority are frivolous nonsense. He's simply grasping at straws.

Damn, this thread has enough stamina to outlast Jim Jeffries & then engage in a light spot of battle royale.

By middleground, I meant people who aren't too hung up on him one way or another. There's always plenty of lovers, &, in many cases, just as many haters. There are far fewer objective observers.

I'd have to say this thread, outside of the Marciano thread I created, is just about the most heated/debated thread that I seen in a long time. When it comes to Marciano and Ali, it seems there's no fighter bigger than those two.

Bernard,

I don't know much about Mundine; can you give more detail on this?

From his record Mundine looks impressive.
