There shall be a funeral service at 2 p.m. next Thursday, July 9, at Memory Garden Memorial Park, 455 West Central Ave., Brea, CA., followed by a buffet dinner at a restaurant location to be announced (with a map) at the funeral service.

I'm authorized to preview the promo, but not on-line in this forum.
If any of you would like to see the promo, I will forward the link, with instructions how to access it.
Sugar Ray Leonard, Oscar De La Hoya, Bob Arum and a lot of boxing personalities including Frank Baltazar and I are featured in the full length feature.
Send me your e-mail address via PM and I'll get it to you.

I had a lot of trouble getting this video up and running but I finally figured out what the problem was (for me). I use Google Chrome as my browser and for some reason it wouldn't allow me to run the video. On a hunch I used Internet Explorer and it came up with no problem. Thanks for the link Rick. Great video, I can't wait to see the whole thing. Keep us informed. I would like to read your review on the film and post it on my site (if possible). Thanks!
Thanks Randy, after reading your post I tried Internet Explorer and was able to see the video,. I use Firefox which wouldn't let me run it.....

Fakes and Imposters
Henry Hascup told me this story about a year ago.
Freddie "Red" Cochran held the Welterwt. title in the mid 1940's by beating Fritzie Zivic.
He also beat notables Graziano,Beauhild and a host of others.
Freddie passed away at the age of 77 in 1993.
He fought out of New Jersey and lived there most of his life.
In 1995, a man started showing up at various dinners in the Philidelphia area claiming to be Cochran. Because most of Cochran's contempararies have passed on, and he stayed rather low key at such dinners,he was placed at tables gratis of the organizations.
This man travelled alone all the time to various affairs. He claimed to be down on his luck and was giving money at a impromptu collection of sports enthusiasts. He knew his record well, but not perfectly. He passed for a mid-70's aged man.
The real Cochran, when he died, it was rather quiet and caught little headlines and fanfare of even most boxing periodicals. Hence, this man assuming his identity.
Henry Hascup has been in the boxing business for years, and I know of no better boxing authority on the east coast, and certainly hands down in knowing ALL New Jersey Boxers even from before his time.
When the man ventured into New Jersey territory, and attended a dinner in New Jersey,he told a few people in attendance that he could use some help cash wise. Many did not know that the real Cochran passed away and they talked for hours with the imposter on his welterwt. exploits.
One man at the dinner got to Hascup and said Cochran "was here".
Henry of course bewildered rose to greet him. He knew right away he was an imposter, but was interested to play along. A few short questions about his career, and suddenly the boxer claimed "amnesia" from the hits he took.
Henry then said that "can you remember your wake as it was I in 1993 that gave your eulogy ?." on behalf of the family and New Jersey Boxing HOF.
The man started backing to the exit doors and said nothing. Eight large men surrounded him and waited for police to come as he collected $400 from "helpers" at this party alone.
Held overnight,he was a vagrant with a nice suit, a call was made to Philidelphia where he was id'd as a fake there too. He collected close to $20,000 (self admitted) over a 2 year period as "Red" Cochran. NO charges were filed by anyone as he was homeless but vagrancy misdemeaners put him in the system. He was seen no more. At least in Philly and New Jersey.

I had to laugh at that one Frank because I went through a similar situation years ago. Back in the mid to late 80's I was driving home from work on a Saturday afternoon. I usually take the freeway home but on the weekends I usually took the side streets in hopes of finding a good yard sale.
One day I stopped at a yard sale and I saw a women's sun dress on one of the tables. It was used but still in good shape and I thought it would look nice on Jeri. I asked the lady what the price was. "75 cents." Wow, what a bargain, I remember thinking. "I'll take it.". She put it in a bag for me.
I got home, walked through the front door and said to Jeri "I bought you a new dress". her face lit up and she said "you did? "Yeah, I stopped at a yard sale, it was only 75 cents too". From the look on her face I knew I did the wrong thing. "A yard sale huh?" "yeah" I said, suddenly realizing I screwed up. "I thought it would look nice on you". "75 cents?" "yeah" I said, growing meeker by the second. "let me see it". Somehow, when I pulled the dress out of the bag, it had lost it's luster and looked like an old rag. I handed the dress to her and she walked directly over to the waste basket in the kitchen and deposited the dress. Then she gave me the "Look". Needless to say I never bought my wife another used 75 cent dress from a yard sale again. I'm slow but I am trainable.

It looks like Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is a good drawing card even if he has mediocre talent at best. If it is determined that Chavez can't compete when facing good fighters, careful matchmaking could enable him to stick around and still make a good living.

It is apparent that Art Aragon was a good fighter, especially as a lightweight. But he was badly overmatched when facing Carmen Basilio, a fighter who was far too strong. Such a bout reminds me of Benny "Kid" Paret, the world welterweight champion, fighting Gene Fullmer, another extremely strong fighter, before his ill-fated final bout with Emile Griffith.
