We'll have to take it across the street to Rubens Bar. The Perico closed shortly after Nario died. It reopened a year ago and they call it "The New Perico". I don't like anything new. I stuck my head in the joint. There was a picture of a "Chicano Rap" group on the wall. No Tony,no Rosie,no Mario,no dog. Forget that place.

If you sing as good as you post, they may sign you up to sing with the Mariachis.
Frank
I saw you with that guitar. All I can say is you're the next teenage sensation in Latin America.

It's not uncommon for the senoritas to go for guys like me and Frank. I guess it's the wisdom they're looking for.
If it's wisdom and knowledge they seek, they should turn to a certain handsome -albeit middle-aged - Swedish-American lawyer from Missouri. . .dagosd2000 wrote:Tomraylawpc wrote:So dagod2000, are you suggesting a new caption for Frank's pic:dagosd2000 wrote:Pug and Frank

I noticed an old fight program with Casanova,Arizmendi,Zurita, and Joe Conde on it. The secretary at work was Conde's niece. She said she was driving her uncle to Tijuana to get some medicine at the drugstore and this guy jumped out in front of her car and got bumped. She said her uncle was up in years, but he was still full of piss and vinegar. Well it was the old "ruse". The guy saw her coming and jumped in front of her car and pretended like he got hit real hard. What he wanted was money. There's people down there that do that kind of stuff, but mostly to tourists. She had California plates, so maybe the guy figured her for an easy touch.
After she "hits" this guy, she began to shake. Sure enough the scam artist pretends like he's been run over by a steam roller, but says to the niece that he won't go to the cops if she gives him ten dollars.( He probably had worked that spot for a while.) She starts to reach in her purse when she sees her uncle open the passenger side door. Conde walks up to the guy, and she tells me that her uncle layed him out with a right. He gets back in the car and tells her to continue driving. End of story.
Have to like a guy like that. Saw what was going down. Took action. And got on to business.

My dad used to talk about a fighter Arizmendi fought a couple of times at the Olympic,Eddie Shea. He was born in Italy and fought out of Chicago. Like Arizmendi he fought them all. Kid Chocolate,Chalky Wright,Benny Bass,Fidel LaBarba. Said he saw Shea fight another Italian fighter at the Chicago Stadium by the name of Earl Mastro. My father said it was the greatest action fight he ever saw. Those must have been the days. Bat Battalino,Midget Wolgast,Freddie Miller, These guys fought every week. Imagine what they would do today in the lighter divisions? They'd burn through it lika a hot knife through butter.

Blaine Dickson grew up pretty fast. Within a few years, he was going to war with everyone. Tough kid.kikibalt wrote:
