Rick, I was thinking about you yesterday at dinner time. Jeri and I were at El Cholo in La Habra. The place was really happening last night. The Happy Hour crowd was in full swing. I like the atmosphere. They were grilling tacos in the patio. We ate inside.Rick Farris wrote:Hey guys . . .
Award winning film maker, Alan Swyer has produced a great documentary on Latino boxers, "El Boxeo".
Alan traveled the world interviewing the best from Mexico, Puerto Rico, etc. Lots of world and west coast legends.
An HBO release date has not been established as Alan continues to fine tune the product for viewing, however, I have the link to a 17 minute promo, and will be happy to forward it to the e-mail of any of you who contact me at:

Cholo, you have become quite the expert on Art Aragon.Cholo wrote:Ramon Tiscareno/Alvaro Guttierez April. 27 1957
His long, enforced vacation evidently didn't hurt Ramon Tiscareno, 146 for he outslugged newly -arrived Alvaro Guttierez of Mexico, 146 at Hollywood Legion Stadium to win by TKO in the 6th. Guttierez' right eye was cut, and there seemed to be an assortment of cuts inside his mouth. He was spouting blood like a geyser.
I agree with your sentiment Rick. Two West Coast favorites.Rick Farris wrote:Two of my all-time favorites, in and out of the ring!kikibalt wrote:

Rest in Peace, Ernie.
Now that you mention it Remy, he does look a little psychotic, doesn't he?Panzerfaust wrote:Tom McCarey got the ''crazy eyes'' fixed at Arizmendi it looks... not a look i would like to get from anyonekikibalt wrote:

Thanks Randy, Art was such a colorful character, they just don't make em like the Golden Boy anymore, never a dull moment with "Golden Boy" Aragon..Randyman wrote:Cholo, you have become quite the expert on Art Aragon.Cholo wrote:Ramon Tiscareno/Alvaro Guttierez April. 27 1957

I just got through watching it. Wow, I can't wait for the complete film. I agree 100% with your statement in the film about the lack of trainers. A common belief here on our thread. Thanks for posting the link Rick! Absolutely brilliant!Rick Farris wrote:Randyman wrote:Rick, I was thinking about you yesterday at dinner time. Jeri and I were at El Cholo in La Habra.
